I definitely think that it's cool that Sony puts out Limited Edition versions of their systems that look different than their normal stock. But I almost hate the LE sets that the Western Audiences get. It's cool that Uncharted is getting its own system but I think the art on the front isn't enough for me to want to trade in my current PS4 (which has a polaroid picture of me taped to it, so it's the Limited Edition Paul PS4) to get this one.
The last LE set of systems I liked were the Street Fighter V ones because at least they had some variety to each set. It's not even that I don't like the art on the front casing. It's just that I've seen that particular image of Drake so many times, it doesn't wow me at all. It's kind of like, "well, yeah, that's Drake, alright".
You can check out a closer look at the system below.
I think, if I had any say or power or creativity, I would have made the design on the front a lot different than it is right now. Neil Druckmann, director of Uncharted 4, has been on the record saying that Uncharted 4 is probably the last one in the series. So wouldn't it be a little bit cooler if there was some art that represented some of the more iconic moments in all of the games?
Instead of focusing on the last game in the series, I would've liked it if they focused on the series as a whole. This is a big franchise that'll most likely end, which is a big deal. So I think it'd be cool if they honored that. Now, I'm not saying that they aren't, I'm sure they have some extra cool stuff planned to celebrate the end of the series. I just wish it happened with this PS4 as well.
Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is coming out on April 26th, 2016.
