Change is always scary, but when that change involves your ability to make a living coupled with meeting a whole new group of people, nerves only get worse. That's why the first day on the job always seems so daunting. And while starting a new job is nerve wracking since it is full of unknowns, it doesn't have to throw you into a full blown panic attack.
Keep these 3 tips in mind and you'll have the most amazing first day ever!!
1. Have Confidence.
You made it though the cover letter, resume, and interview process and they chose you out of everybody else; that means they believe you can actually do the job! Now you just need to believe that too. Forget about those pesky "what if I suck" thoughts, and realize that you are your own worst critic. Have confidence and you will succeed.
2. Remember no job needs to be permanent.
Sometimes we forget that jobs never ever have to be permeant and we have the right to leave them at any time. You have all of the power, so don't let this new job scare you. If you love it, amazing, but if you don't just start looking for the next one! You never, ever have to get stuck at a job you don't like or aren't good at. You have the power to control your own life.
3. Just be yourself.
Sounds so simple, but when trying to make a great first impression this always seems to be the hardest thing to remember. You will be working with these people every day so show them the real you! Be nice, be professional, but don't be afraid to show your true self! Its the easiest way to make friends.
