Netflix has a hit on their hands with Orange Is The New Black, and is showing the show (and its fans) the respect it deserves.
Netflix has renewed Orange Is the New Black for three additional seasons, the streaming service and Lionsgate, which produces the series, announced on Friday.
With the renewal news, OITNB has been given the longest commitment of any Netflix original series.
The good news kept rolling in earlier as the fourth season of the prison-set comedic drama, from creator and executive producer Jenji Kohan, will premiere on June 17.
Kohan added: "Three more years! Not quite a political term, but still plenty of time to do some interesting things. In some cultures, 'May you lead an interesting life,' is a curse, but I don't live in those cultures. Here's to keeping it interesting. Thanks, Netflix! Both thanks and you're welcome, Lionsgate! And kudos and gratitude to the stellar cast and crew and writers and producers and editors and musicians and mixers and shleppers ... with whom I have the pride and honor of crafting this show. Three more years! Three more years!"
While Netflix doesn't release it's ratings, do you think their is a more popular show than "Orange Is The New Black" right now?
Me too, @shannonl5! I think it's one of the more progressive shows on right now... or ever. Not to mention it's just plain funny and interesting. :)
@ButterflyBlu absolutely. I remember one of the actresses saying that there was a moment in season 1 (when they were all dancing) that she'd never expected to be part of a production with a scene like that- just full of women with diverse backgrounds and a lot of character development. It's sad but it's so rare
I'm so happy! Love this show
