When it comes to the 5 Languages of Love, I'm huge on words of affirmation.
Although I enjoy being showered with compliments, words of encouragement and the like, I would be lying if I said I didn't also enjoy the receiving gifts aspect of love as well. Words of course are much more meaningful in my opinion, but a nice gift also has its perks. With the upcoming holiday approaching this Sunday, I can only think of how I would love to be pampered if I happened to be in a relationship.
It didn't take long for me to come to the conclusion that I would gladly spend the day snuggled up on the couch watching marathons of my favorite television series and instead of being presented with a gift, I would rather be showered with words of affirmation. It's the little things and if someone happens to see my beauty despite my bare face and hair tied up in a scarf than that's what I want to hear. As a writer, words mean a lot and although compliments should be dished out daily when you're in a committed relationship -- if I had to choose between the words or the gifts, I would obviously choose the latter.
If you had the option, would you rather be showered with words of affirmation or receive gifts?
