Cupid's Countdown Cocktails & Mocktails

Helllloooo! sorry for the delay vinglers but busy day with my baby. Here are a few romantic inspired drinks to help set the mood for Valentines Day. First up a mocktail that I like to enjoy & in a pretty shade of pink. * Two parts pink lemonade *One part sprite or 7up (diet if you prefer) *A squeeze of mandarin juice *Ice *Lemon peel Place some ice in a cocktail shaker, add the pink lemonade, sprite or 7up, and mandarin juice, and shake well. Strain into a martini glass ( or substitute with decorative glass of your choice ) and add additional ice if required. Garnish glass with a lemon peel.
And now for the alcohol... Cherry Vodka This pretty drink has a reputation as an aphrodisiac also in a romantic shade of pink. *One part fresh lime juice *One part cherry liqueur *Two parts vodka *Maraschino cherry *Crushed ice Place a spoon of crushed ice in a cocktail shaker and add the lime juice, cherry liqueur and vodka. Shake well and strain into a small cocktail glass, and decorate with a maraschino cherry.
Fuzzy Navel The Fuzzy Navel is a rather fun little drink. *One part vodka *One part peach schnapps or peach brandy *Six parts of fresh orange juice *Twist of orange zest *Ice cubes Pour the vodka, peach schnapps or peach brandy and the orange juice into a cocktail shaker with some ice cubes. Shake well and strain into tall glasses, decorating each one with a twist of orange zest.
This last one can be easily made into a mocktail by avoiding the use of vodka & it still tastes great! Bloody Ceaser This is an old favorite and one of the world's best known cocktails. In a rather holiday appropriate shade of red. *The juice of one lemon *A generous helping of vodka ( or not if doing mocktail version ) *4 to 6oz of Clamato juice depending on taste *A sprinkling of black pepper *A few drops of Tabasco *A squirt of Worcestershire sauce *Ice cubes *Clamato rimmer *Stick of celery ( optional ) Dampen the rim of a whisky glass with lemon juice and dip it into a saucer of Clamato rimmer. Place four ice cubes in a cocktail shaker and add the lemon juice, vodka and Clamato juice. Shake well. Trickle a few drops of Tabasco and a squirt of Worcestershire sauce into a whiskey glass and swirl it around to coat the inside. Strain the cocktail or mocktail into the glass and grind a sprinkling of black pepper over it. If you have one, you can add a stick of celery as an edible stirrer. I hope this helps to inspire everyone to enjoy their Valentines Day single or not. Ok, I LOVE Bloody Mary's so that Bloody Ceasar looks awesome!! though, I might have to do the pink drink for the evening. it seems perfect for a single lady!

Chocolate Chip Cookie Shot Glasses
In honor of National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day, here is a deliciously fun way to get your chocolate chip cookie fix during happy hour: Chocolate Chip Cookie Shot Glasses! And in case you think I am making this holiday up, you can find it , and a ton of other national holidays that will blow your mind at National Day Calendar online. This 4 1/2 star recipe comes from All Recipes user, Nicole Faust Hunt, called "Absolutely The Best Chocolate Chip Cookies." To make the shot glasses, you will need a 'popover' pan. Otherwise, you can make these using small cupcake pans. However, the shape of the glass will not look like a shot glass. Ingredients: 1 cup butter flavored shortening (not butter) 3/4 cup white sugar 3/4 cup brown sugar 2 eggs 2 teaspoons Mexican vanilla extrac t2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon salt 2 cups milk chocolate chips Chocolate candy melts (for later) Directions: Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease the pan. In a large bowl, cream together the butter flavored shortening, brown sugar and white sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well with each addition, then stir in the vanilla .Combine the flour, baking soda and salt; gradually stir into the creamed mixture. Finally, fold in the chocolate chips. Press the cookie dough into the popover pan bottom and sides. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, until light brown. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely. Separately, melt the chocolate candy melts in a microwave or a double boiler. Once the cookie shot glasses have cooled, spoon in the candy melts, covering the bottom and inside cookie walls. This will harden relatively quick, or you can put it in the fridge. This coating will prevent liquids from being absorbed into the cookie.
