Cupid's Countdown Cocktails & Mocktails
Helllloooo! sorry for the delay vinglers but busy day with my baby. Here are a few romantic inspired drinks to help set the mood for Valentines Day. First up a mocktail that I like to enjoy & in a pretty shade of pink. * Two parts pink lemonade *One part sprite or 7up (diet if you prefer) *A squeeze of mandarin juice *Ice *Lemon peel Place some ice in a cocktail shaker, add the pink lemonade, sprite or 7up, and mandarin juice, and shake well. Strain into a martini glass ( or substitute with decorative glass of your choice ) and add additional ice if required. Garnish glass with a lemon peel.
And now for the alcohol... Cherry Vodka This pretty drink has a reputation as an aphrodisiac also in a romantic shade of pink. *One part fresh lime juice *One part cherry liqueur *Two parts vodka *Maraschino cherry *Crushed ice Place a spoon of crushed ice in a cocktail shaker and add the lime juice, cherry liqueur and vodka. Shake well and strain into a small cocktail glass, and decorate with a maraschino cherry.
Fuzzy Navel The Fuzzy Navel is a rather fun little drink. *One part vodka *One part peach schnapps or peach brandy *Six parts of fresh orange juice *Twist of orange zest *Ice cubes Pour the vodka, peach schnapps or peach brandy and the orange juice into a cocktail shaker with some ice cubes. Shake well and strain into tall glasses, decorating each one with a twist of orange zest.
This last one can be easily made into a mocktail by avoiding the use of vodka & it still tastes great! Bloody Ceaser This is an old favorite and one of the world's best known cocktails. In a rather holiday appropriate shade of red. *The juice of one lemon *A generous helping of vodka ( or not if doing mocktail version ) *4 to 6oz of Clamato juice depending on taste *A sprinkling of black pepper *A few drops of Tabasco *A squirt of Worcestershire sauce *Ice cubes *Clamato rimmer *Stick of celery ( optional ) Dampen the rim of a whisky glass with lemon juice and dip it into a saucer of Clamato rimmer. Place four ice cubes in a cocktail shaker and add the lemon juice, vodka and Clamato juice. Shake well. Trickle a few drops of Tabasco and a squirt of Worcestershire sauce into a whiskey glass and swirl it around to coat the inside. Strain the cocktail or mocktail into the glass and grind a sprinkling of black pepper over it. If you have one, you can add a stick of celery as an edible stirrer. I hope this helps to inspire everyone to enjoy their Valentines Day single or not.
