where to start with ... everything is there on and off the web with more often than not news pop up with the quote on " jihad " so let's see what is jihad .. and how magnetic is it that it attract all people towards it well we all know that jihad is followed by the Muslims. jihad originally is an Arabic word comes from the word jiddhu Jihad, which means to strive and to struggle. That's it. It means to strive and to struggle. so to elaborate in Islamic context it means to strive and to struggle against own evil inclination, to strive and struggle to make the society better but what we see in the present presentation by the majority is that it is as a .."HOLY WAR" ... DEAR ONES if that would have been the case the arabic word for holy war is "harbul muqaddasa" which is mentioned not a SINGLE TIME in the holy book AL QURAN which all the muslim follow with 100 percent conviction. now let's see jihad of many forms. a student can be seen doing jihad to get good score. like wise a employee can be seen doing jihad to earn his living ... Each and every human being is engaged in Jihad, in the sense that everyone has to struggle for his existence. Now the real fuzz. that the word jihad has created is completely opposite why is it too let's have a deep look into it there is a verse in the holy ALQURAN "And slay them wherever ye catch them.." [Noble Quran 2:191] this is completely out of context yet 100%correct the full verse is "Fight in the cause of God those who fight you, but do not transgress limits; for God loves not transgressors. And kill them wherever ye catch them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out; for persecution and oppression are worse than slaughter; but fight them not at the Sacred Mosque, unless they (first) fight you there; but if they fight you, kill them. Such is the reward of those who reject faith. But if they cease, God is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. And fight them on until there is no more tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in God; but if they cease, let there be no hostility except to those who practice oppression. The prohibited month, for the prohibited month, and so for all things prohibited, there is the law of equality. If then any one transgresses the prohibition against you, transgress ye likewise against him. But fear (the punishment of) God, and know that God is with those who restrain themselves."[Noble Quran 2:190-194] so any known person can translate the verses as mentioned above .. which was an order given by the god(ALLAH) to fight with the enemy if they fight with you... any layman can understand this next comes the interesting verse that says not to fight but provide shelter if they surrender or admit their mistake .. so such is the teaching of islam but the evil people manipulate and potray as they wish to and few people are been misguided to harm others and one of the verses of the Al Quran also says “Whoever kills a person [unjustly]…it is as though he has killed all mankind. And whoever saves a life, it is as though he had saved all mankind.” (Qur’an, 5:32) where does islam says that jihad leads to terrorism... it's a people creation .. words of the holy book is crystal clear and teaches one live life peace fully to end this I would like you to be the judge. and decide upon these two events which makes thing distinguish between right and wrong one is the living of millions of Coptic cristian. in Saudi Arabia till date population of India having more than 80% other than muslim. where the rulers were mughal if they wanted to kill or convert people to islam they could have done it easily ... so In a nutshell Each and every human being is engaged in Jihad, in the sense that everyone has to struggle for his existence. The word Jihad is not synonymous with “Holy War” which is what the Western media wants everyone to believe. After four decades of Cold War, the Western powers suddenly found themselves without a legitimate enemy, and, consequently, they have designated Islam and the Muslims as the most deadly threat to world peace. The image of all Muslims as terrorists was inculcated by numerous so-called documentaries, like the infamous Jihad in America (PBS). In the face of such widespread media stereotypes, it is indeed an uphill task to educate the non-Muslims regarding the true meaning of Jihad. Much more important, however, is the task of removing the misconception which are prevalent among the Muslims themselves
great point raised...the misconception about Islam is too much
world is not at all bias there are people who have wrong image about islam as u can very well see the largest convert to any religion is islam so these propaganda is temporary and intelligent people will not follow things without acknowledging them .. now we at the present world ppl will not believe if some one say 1 is equal to zero so we need to educate ppl so the word perception will change .. People who worry that nuclear weaponry will one day fall in the hands of the Arabs, fail to realize that the Islamic bomb has been dropped already, it fell the day MUHAMMED (peace be upon him) was born. - Dr. Joseph Adam Pearson.
The fact that "Jihad is just a word" is meaningless. Every word is "just a word" when it is out of context. The context that is relevant to what many people in the west think of Islam now days is the way the word is used by extremists and warlords. They are the ones who use in it the context of a holy war. To change the world's bias about Islam, will take much more than pointing out that Jihad is simply the Arabic word for struggle.
I think the point of this card is, jihad is just an arabic word for struggle with your life to do a good thing, to fight evil within yourself. because this word has being misunderstood by non muslim as it related to terrorism. maybe other religion has their own word with the same meaning as jihad right? we learn from history that there is people who can live together in peace even they have different religion or believer because they respect each others
