Manny Pacquiao is one of the most influential boxers in the world along with now retired Floyd Mayweather. His influence goes beyond the boxing ring and is even a candidate for the Philippine Senate seat. Well just recently, he was asked about his opinion on same-sex marriage. This was his response.

"It's just common sense. Have you seen any animal having male-to-male or female-to-female relations? If you have male-to-male or female-to-female [relationships], then people are worse than animals."

He was then condemned by fellow Filipino celebrities and said he has made inappropriate remarks on a sensitive subject such as same-sex marriage. Dante Remoto, chairman of the LGBT group Ladlad commented on Pacquiao's remarks by saying,
"He is running for a national position and he should be a senator of everybody, not just over-the-hill boxers and straight people. Otherwise, they would be left behind in the Dark Ages, when the cavemen ruled and the numbskulls roamed the earth."
Pacquiao apologized for the remarks he said through a Facebook video. He went on to say,

"I'm sorry for hurting people by comparing homosexuals to animals. Please forgive me for those I've hurt."

Pacquiao is known to be a devout Christian and it looks like he made those remarks based off of his religious beliefs.

What are your thoughts on this issue? Do you think Pacquiao should be criticized for his statement against same-sex marriage?

You have to respect him for not being fake and pretending he is okay with it. I everyone's entitled to there own opinion.
last I checked, regardless of how one feels on this subject, I thought that this was america where everyone's was open to their own opinions? Yes you may disagree with him and yes others may agree with him but regardless he is welcome to his own beliefs weather people like it or not. Thats what nakes our country great BECAUSE of our Constitution.
He needs to learn about timing, there's a time to speak out loud and time to shut. But yeah at least he's not being fake
Yeah He didn't had to do that
i'm glad he's not running for the senate seat here in the US
