DIY oil candles

These oil candles are a beautiful way to decorate your living space and give it a cozy feel. This DIY tutorial comes from the wonderfully creative people at A Piece of Rainbow.

Materials

For this project, you will need:
-- Large floating wicks — you can find these online
-- Vegetable oil
-- Glass jars
-- Essential oils (optional) — you can find these online
-- Decorative pieces, such as flowers, fruit pieces or herbs
You can find the majority of these items at a craft store.

Fill the jars with water and decoration

Fill the glass jars with your decorative pieces. Then, fill the glass jar with water — leave a couple of inches at the top of the jar. Add any essential oils that you want to the water.

Add oil and the wick

Pour some vegetable oil at the top of the jar until the jar is full. Then, place the floating wick on top of the liquid.

Light the candle and enjoy!

(Caution: the fruits and flowers will last about a week in water before going bad.)

Transform paper plates into beautiful flowers
Paper plates -> beautiful flowers! This easy DIY project will turn paper plates into adorable and sophisticated decorations for a Spring party, bridal party or wedding! This DIY tutorial comes from the creative people at Muslin & Merlot. Materials For this project, you will need: -- Paper plates -- Scissors -- Craft glue or a hot-glue gun and glue sticks -- Craft paint -- Twine -- Large marker (to curl the paper plates) -- X-acto knife You can find all of these items at a craft store. Cut the flower base Fold the paper plate into a small triangle, as shown in the picture above. Then, cut the paper plate along the black dotted line shown in the picture above. Use the marker to curl the petals of the flower. Cut smaller flowers Repeat the previous steps, just smaller for three smaller flowers. Make sure to save the edges of the plates that you cut off. Attach the petals together Use the X-acto knife to cut a hole in the middle of the flowers stacked on top of each other. String twine through the center hole and tie a few knots. Then, take the excess plate edges and cut them into fringes. Then, curl them around each other so that they form a fringed center for the flower. Assemble the flower Use the hot-glue gun to glue the fringed center to the flower petals. Also, add some glue in between the flower petals to make the flower more sturdy. If you would like, you can add some paint to give your flowers some color. Set these beautiful flowers out as decorations and enjoy! Home Office Nook Layout
I am trying to redecorate my home office nook but I can't decide what kind of setting I want. I do know I want to sit by a corner with natural light. Here are the samples I found online. Since they all look pretty nice to me I have a hard time deciding. So, I'm asking you guys for help! 1. Back facing the wall and window on the left side. Why I like this setup: I get to see who's enter the room without turning around and the wall shelving will serve as a pretty background when I video chat with my family. 2. Facing the window with an open back. Why I like this setup: Summer is going to be hot but staring outside the window with keep me from feeling congested. The greens will also help comfort my tired eyes from staring at the computer screen for too long. In addition, I can possible turn my wall into a big cork board. 3. Facing the wall and window on the side. Why I like this setup. The front view wall space will offer plenty of room to serve as mood board. I can also extend the table create 2nd workspace for my husband. Well, he never brings his work home but he could accompany me when I am doing my own thing. And finally I have the biggest crush with this layout. Unfortunately, my room is not suitable for this type of styling. I will just leave it here because the interior design is cozy. Since I can't makeup my mind. Let me know what you guys think is practical. @waanderer @jordanhamilton @TessStevens @Jaileejailee @NaraA @stephosorio @MyAffairWith @adelinlin @primodiva93 @petname83 @mscocoasupreme @AlexiaSmith @Scheherashared
