VSNA Basketball: 18 February 2016
The NBA finally returned from the All-Star break after what seemed like ages. There have been a ton of trades lately as the trade deadline approached, but those will be covered later. For now, let's get to what happened on the court today!
The Wizards topped the Jazz 103-89 behind double doubles from John Wall and Marcin Gortat. Gortat is reportedly excited about the Wizards trade to acquire Markeiff Morris from Phoenix, who he played with for two years in the desert.
LeBron James scored 25 points and barely missed a triple-double, Kevin Love added 15 points and 15 rebounds and the Cavs looked refreshed and refocused following from the All-Star break with a 106-95 victory over the Chicago Bulls on Thursday night.
James had nine rebounds and nine assists in 35 minutes for the Cavs, who lost their first two match ups with Chicago this season. But the Bulls are broken, missing three key players because of injuries. Cleveland has its sights set on finishing with the East's best record and earlier in the day the club acquired forward Channing Frye from Orlando in a three-team trade the Cavs hope can get them an NBA title. But to get Frye, the Cavs had to deal the wildly popular Varejao. He spent 12 seasons with the Cavs, endearing himself to his teammates with his hustle and becoming one of the city's most popular players, known as "Wild Thing" for his all-out style and long, frizzy hair. Derrick Rose scored 28 points and Pau Gasol had 14 for the Bulls, just 5-14 since they were a season-best 10 games over .500 on Jan. 9. Chicago is currently without Jimmy Butler, Nikola Mirotic and Joakim Noah. The Bulls are sinking fast.
The Clippers topped the Spurs 105-86 in dominant fashion behind 28 points and 12 assists from CP3. They held Lamarcus Aldridge to just 10 points on 3 of 12 shooting and also won the rebounding game. The Spurs, who own the second best record in the league, looked lost on the court and in transition, and were outplayed the whole game.
There were only three games tonight, but things should start getting interesting as teams start prepping for playoff runs. Let me know in the comments if you want to be tagged in future VSNA cards, and specify which of the six sports you are interested in reading about. Thank you and good night!

Looks like Cleveland is going to clinch the number one spot for the Eastern conference!

Yeah, Cavs may clinch but I don't think they are the best team in the East, toronto has the scheme and talent to take them.. I wish they went all in during all star break and made a trade for like Al Horford or Dwight though..
