Harper Lee passed away today at the age of 89. The writer, most known for her legendary novel "To Kill A Mockingbird", provided us with some profound quotes. Knowledge extends on forever, so in order to commemorate her legacy, I put together some of my favorite quotes from her books and her life.

1. "Real courage is when you know you're licked before you begin, but you begin anyway and see it through no matter what."

Sometimes the odds are stacked against us. Sticking with things is the important part. Anybody can continue on when they're ahead, but the real courage comes when you don't give up even though all signs point to the contrary.

2. "You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view."

Truer words have never been spoken. People aren't always considerate of other people's points of view. But once you actually imagine yourself in a different situation you can begin to understand where they're coming from.

3. "Things are never as bad as they seem."

This sentence is so simple, but so true. We have to start believing that.

4. "It was times like these when I thought my father, who hated guns and had never been to any wars, was the bravest man who ever lived."

The simple act of peace can be so powerful. Its these sentences that cement Harper as a great and profound writer.

5. "Shoot all the bluejays you want, if you can hit 'em, but remember it's a sin to kill a mockingbird."

All mockingbirds do is give us music and joy. Killing or harming the pure, good things in life is one of the worst things you can do. This goes for people too.

Rest in peace Harper Lee! Thank you for all the beautiful thoughts and words.

Yeah I haven't read it yet either! Was sad news, but she lived a full life and gave us gifts for eternity :) @Patmanmeow
I didn't know about this. Damn. Her prose was friendly and fluent, and was never shy. I have "Go Set A Watchman" on my wish list and planing on reading it soon.
