KENPACHI ZARAKI EQUIPMENT Eyepatch Power Seal: While unneeded, Kenpachi wears an eyepatch, created by the Shinigami Research and Development Institute just for him. In addition to reducing his depth perception and range of vision it also seals the bulk of his Reiryoku. Since he has so much power and battle prowess, however, it does not noticeably hinder him in battle; in fact, he remains just ahead of most other captains. He wears this because he loves fighting so much that he cannot fight most opponents at full strength and enjoy it, as he would defeat them too quickly. Reiatsu Bells: In order to further give the enemy an advantage, Kenpachi wears bells on each spike of his hair. These bells can only be heard by enemies whose Reiatsu is concentrated to the point where it can actually defeat Kenpachi. Seventeen months after Aizen's defeat, Kenpachi reveals he does not wear the bells anymore. POWERS AND ABILITIES Kenpachi did not attend the Shin'ō Academy, cannot use Bankai, and has no apparent skill (or interest) in Kidō and Shunpo. However, he more than makes up for his faults with his sheer power, resilience, and ingenuity; these traits easily making him one of the strongest Shinigami in the Gotei 13. Master Swordsman: Due to the lawlessness of the Zaraki district, Kenpachi's skill with his sword has been honed to essentially a masterful level, letting him strike multiple times with changes of attack type (from slash to pierce) without any difficulty. While still a child, his prowess was great enough to single-handedly kill hundreds of adult fighters and wound Retsu Unohana, the 1st Kenpachi, in battle. His unpolished skills, but immense might with his sword allow him to always fight with one hand free, only using both hands when facing opponents he feels will beat him otherwise, such as with Nnoitra and momentarily Ichigo. As the captain of the 11th Division, which specializes in sword fighting, he is among the most, if not the most, proficient swordsmen in all of Soul Society. During his death battle against Unohana, Kenpachi's fighting prowess, which was subconsciously suppressed long ago, was fully restored, allowing him to swiftly defeat the senior captain. Kendō: Kenpachi possesses considerable knowledge and skill in Kendō, which Yamamoto forced him to learn before officially joining the Gotei 13, though the training only lasted a day out of fear that Zaraki would become too powerful. However, Kenpachi, who despises using skills and techniques learned from another source, only uses Kendō as a last Hand-to-Hand Combat Expert: While preferring to use his blade in battle, Kenpachi has proven several times to be very dangerous while barehanded. He can easily catch an opponent's attack with a single hand, perform powerful punches and kicks, and easily subdue opponents with throws and take-downs. Kenpachi easily overwhelmed several members of the Onmitsukidō, a corp of Hakuda-specialists, despite being battle-worn. Immense Spiritual Power: Even by a captain's standards, his Reiryoku is absolutely monstrous. Kenpachi has fought on par with two other captain-level opponents while still wearing his energy-sealing eye patch and his opponents releasing their Zanpakutō's Bankai.Ganju Shiba estimated his sealed power to be close to or at the same level as Byakuya Kuchiki's Reiatsu. Retsu Unohana, one of the most powerful captains of the Gotei 13, stated she was weaker than him even while he was still a child. Similar to Ichigo, when unleashing a strong enough surge of energy, it becomes visible and yellow in color, sometimes with the appearance of a skull. Unruly Reiatsu Control: By his own admission, Kenpachi has poor control of his spiritual energy as it constantly remains very potent, forcing him to rely on his eyepatch to keep it at a more manageable level. Despite this, he is able to make liberal use of it in a variety of ways. It can affect large areas, spanning miles, and cause others within that area to enter a state of paralysis and confusion. When exerting his energy, the sheer magnitude of Kenpachi's energy can cause considerable damage, destroying the area around him and launching away weaker opponents. Likewise, this can repel or disrupt most enemy attacks and abilities. After his battle with Unohana, Kenpachi gains considerable control over his Reiatsu; prior to Gremmy Thoumeaux creating a structure for he and Kenpachi to fight on, Shinigami in the nearby area were completely unable to detect his Reiatsu. He can also use his Reiryoku for more basic feats, such as standing in midair like other Shinigami. Damage Resistance: The intensity of Kenpachi's Reiryoku also acts as a sort of armor, making it impossible for him to be harmed by anyone not at his level of power. This is first demonstrated when he faced Ichigo. At the start of the fight, Kenpachi allows Ichigo to strike him, yet despite leaving himself completely unguarded and not resisting, not only did Ichigo fail to cut him, but Ichigo's hands started to bleed because of the recoil. Shock Wave: He possesses enough control to focus and unleash his spiritual pressure in the form of a powerful shock wave. When using both hands, his shock wave can have a huge radius of destruction. Energy Wave: By striking at the ground, Kenpachi can create an overflowing wave of yellow spiritual energy, which surges forward before crashing into Kenpachi's target. Highly Perceptive Combatant: Despite his seeming disregard for any strategy and his self-admitted aversion to thinking, Kenpachi has regularly displayed more understanding than one would expect. Even Byakuya was impressed by Kenpachi's ability to understand things he has no personal experience with. He is very adept at finding and exploiting weaknesses in his opponents' techniques, and likewise at adjusting to his opponent's attack patterns and battle methods to better counter them. This was demonstrated when he was subdued by Kaname Tōsen's Bankai, leaving him with only his blade and sense of touch, which prompted him to let Tōsen strike him simply so he could catch his opponent. He is also deceptively insightful, able to notice subtle traits in people and see what drives a person's actions; he correctly singled out Kaname Tōsen and Gin Ichimaru as the only captains who are afraid to die. He possesses sharp intuition towards incoming danger, which allowed him to repeatedly dodge Tōsen's assault while still affected by his Bankai. While claiming not to have any common sense, Kenpachi can still theorize, as he deduced that Gremmy Thoumeaux's The Visionary only works on one target at a time and all effects on a previous target will disappear Immense Strength: Kenpachi possesses a very large degree of physical strength, most commonly displayed by his ability to push back his opponent's attacks with a single arm, even if the opponent's weapons and attacks are gigantic in size. He can carry three full-grown human corpses on his shoulders without any apparent effort. When Pernida Parnkgjas began warping and damaging his arm, Kenpachi ripped it off effortlessly. In his various battles, he has performed superhuman physical feats, such as launching full-grown men through buildings with a kick and slamming his opponents over his shoulder, as well as grabbing Ichigo's large sword to reel him in for an attack. He can also ram clear through a solid wall and launch his opponents during a weapons clash. With just his bare hand, Kenpachi grabbed and deflected the Cero of the fifth Espada, Nnoitra Gilga. His sword attacks can easily cut through an Arrancar's Hierro, which is harder than steel, including Yammy Llargo's while he was in his released form, where Kenpachi cut off his leg and knocked the enormous Espada off his feet in a single strike. His extreme cutting strength is also evident from how he sliced apart a skyscraper with a mere flick of his wrist. Against Gremmy's imagination powers, Kenpachi claims that the Quincy's powers cannot come up with anything that he cannot cut, proving so by slicing through Gremmy's self-proclaimed harder-than-steel body. His immense strength is the reason why Kenpachi was chosen as one of the 5 Special War Powers by the Wandenreich. Immense Speed: While he possesses no known skill in Shunpo, Kenpachi is deceptively fast for his size and build. Thanks to the tremendous raw strength in his legs, Kenpachi's natural acceleration more than make up for his lack of Shunpo, allowing him to move fast enough to instantly close a huge gap of space between him and his opponent, and even seemingly disappear from sight. In battle, he can strike with incredible speed in rapid succession, making it highly difficult for his opponents to find an opening and counterattack. During his short battle with Byakuya, Kenpachi manages to keep up with his opponent's incredibly fast Shunpo, a feat which shocked and impressed Byakuya. Immense Endurance: His physical prowess is equally shown by his resilience. Kenpachi often ignores most of the injuries he sustains in battle, not suffering any debilitation despite having multiple slash wounds in his body and rarely any signs of pain (much like a berserker). He allowed himself to be stabbed during his fight with Tōsen just to grab Tōsen's blade to dispel his Bankai's effect. During his battle with Nnoitra, he suffered numerous slash wounds, even impaled and almost beheaded with no visual impairment of his fighting performance; Nnoitra noting most people would have already been dead by then. Even after receiving grievous injuries which left him in a comatose state, he healed enough to return to training only days later, showing a high recovery rate as well. Despite having his arm mangled by Pernida's The Compulsory, Kenpachi still managed to nonchalantly hold his sword with that arm. Immense Durability: As resilient as Kenpachi is, he is just as hard to damage. During his battle against Yammy, while Kenpachi was focusing his attention on Ichigo, Yammy delivered a powerful blow with his massive fist, launching Kenpachi several meters and smashing him into a large pillar. Despite the impact, Kenpachi quickly emerged unfazed, claiming it was only a "decent punch" but was still unimpressed. During his battle with Gremmy, Kenpachi remained unharmed after being fired upon by dozens of firearms and having missiles thrown at him, and later withstood the cold vacuum of space and having several clones of Gremmy self-destruct at point-blank range with only moderate injuries. Even after Kenpachi suffered severe organ damage from these attacks, it took the combined effort of four Sternritter to finally take him out of the battle. ZANPAKUTŌ Nozarashi. Nozarashi (野晒, Weather-Beaten One; Viz "Weather Beaten"): Kenpachi did not originally know the name of his Zanpakutō, and is the only captain in the history of the Gotei 13 who cannot perform Bankai. After his fight with Ichigo, Kenpachi wished to learn more about his Zanpakutō because he wanted to become stronger, and could identify with the pain of not having a name to be called by. Zangetsu noted Kenpachi's disharmony with his sword caused the two to damage each other's powers; consequently, Kenpachi could not hear the cry of his sword. Later, upon defeating Retsu Unohana in battle and awakening his true strength, Kenpachi finally was able to hear his Zanpakutō's voice. Shikai: Its release command is Drink (呑め, nome). Even before Kenpachi knew its name, Nozarashi was constantly in its released state, due instead to Kenpachi's overwhelming Reiatsu forcing the release. He obtained this state while still a child. The blade is much longer than a standard Zanpakutō's, roughly the size of a nodachi, with a long guard which extends inward from its center, similar to a shinai. The hilt is white, though most of it is wrapped in bandages, as is his sword's sheath. Despite constantly being in Shikai, Nozarashi did not initially grant Kenpachi any additional abilities or possess any additional power of its own, due to their lack of communication. Their disharmony left Nozarashi with little spiritual energy and let it become easier to damage; it is a chipped and seemingly worn-down blade. Despite its appearance, Nozarashi can easily cut through most objects: with it, Kenpachi stabs straight through Ichigo's Zanpakutō, and later slices a building in half with no apparent effort after releasing his full power. However when Kenpachi calls out its release command, Nozarashi transforms into a huge axe with a long, cloth-wrapped handle and a tassel attached to the top. Shikai Special Ability: In its fully released state, Nozarashi possesses tremendous attack power, easily destroying a huge meteorite with a single attack. Its cutting power is also greatly enhanced, allowing Kenpachi to effortlessly cut through the bodies of his opponents and even through space itself.
MADARA UCHIHA ABILITIES Madara was one of the most gifted shinobi in history, recognised as the strongest member of the Uchiha clan. A child prodigy, he killed several adult Senju before he had awakened his Sharingan. History remembers him best for competing with Hashirama Senju, a "God of Shinobi", and pushing him to his absolute limits. When Obito began operating under Madara's name, fear of Madara's power forced the Five Great Shinobi Countries, and the neutral Land of Iron, to band together and trigger the Fourth Shinobi World War. After his return from death, Madara was more than powerful enough to defeat the Five Kage at once, and later the nine tailed beasts after stealing Hashirama's senjutsu chakra. CHAKRA AND PHYSICAL PROWESS Madara was born with very powerful chakra, described as very foul and evil by both the Nine-Tails and Tobirama Senju. This is partly because he inherited Indra's chakra. His large chakra reserves allowed him to fight nonstop for twenty-four hours before collapsing, and in his old age, summon the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path from its cage in the moon. He was skilled in chakra control as he could perform complicated techniques with a single hand seal. He could also quickly absorb and synchronise senjutsu chakra with his own, while suffering no adverse effects associated with a lack of proficiency in senjutsu. Although he primarily used ninjutsu, Madara was skilled in taijutsu. During his confrontation with the Fourth Division, he fought hundreds of opponents with taijutsu, disarming and dodging attacks from many directions. He could strike with precision before his opponent could react, and overpower individuals twice his size. He was fast enough to attack Naruto in Sage Mode, and when using senjutsu chakra, dodge a Flying Thunder God Slash without looking. While using senjutsu chakra, Madara's pain tolerance was high, as he neither flinched from the tailed beasts' assault, nor the loss of his arm. BODY MODIFICATIONS When Madara was reincarnated, Kabuto Yakushi modified him to be "beyond his physical and combat prime". The abilities he had in his old age were now present in his younger body. In addition, a pale replica of Hashirama's face existed on Madara's left pectoral region, which granted him Hashirama's Wood Release kekkei genkai. After being resurrected, he acquired Hashirama's senjutsu chakra, and could now heal most of his injuries in seconds. For severe injuries, like amputation, Madara could replace his limb with material from a White Zetsu's body. NINJUTSU Madara was well-versed in a variety of ninjutsu styles: he could use juinjutsu powerful enough to restrict the target's actions, perform fūinjutsu strong enough to seal the Ten-Tails, and through an unorthodox use of the Shadow Clone Technique, fake his death by having a clone act as his corpse. He could hide within surfaces to avoid damage and move around the battlefield unnoticed. In the anime, Madara showed the ability to levitate. BUKIJUTSU Madara could use many weapons, such as giant shuriken, a kama, chains with weights, a kusarigama, and hand-held shuriken. He also demonstrated proficiency with swords while fighting the Fourth Division. His trademark weapon was his gunbai, with which he could shield himself and redirect attacks, or wield it like a mace or flail. He could slice through the giant roots of the Ten-Tails' tree form with it. NATURE TRANSFORMATION Madara was one of the few shinobi in history capable of utilising all five basic nature transformations as well as YinYang Release. An Uchiha, he had a natural affinity for Fire Release, able to produce a wall of flames that required several Water Release users to repel together, launch a volley of dragon-shaped fireballs, or cover an area with ash to act as a smokescreen. In the anime, Madara could create powerful gusts with his gunbai to repel an entire platoon. Later in his life, he used YinYang Release to amplify White Zetsu, and pour his will into black receivers which could restrict and control targets. After acquiring Hashiramas DNA, he could use Wood Release, a mixture of water and earth-natured chakra, with his skill being comparable to Hashirama himself. He could create gigantic flowering trees, which could render a foe unconscious, wood clones, and wood dragons which could bind targets and drain their chakra. With Hashiramas cells, Madara could also produce roots to connect to and gain limited control of the Ten-Tails. After becoming Ten-Tails jinchūriki, he was shown using Yin Release to create lightning bolts, and Storm Release a mixture of water and lightning-natured chakra to create energy beams that could cut through the Six Paths Rods. SENSORY PERCEPTION An adept sensor type, he could detect and recognise chakra signatures from a great distance. His skills were refined enough to determine a persons clan and the nature of their kekkei genkai. He could even differentiate species. When amplified by senjutsu chakra, he could even fight whilst blind, by locating targets and dodging attacks through his sensory perception. SHARINGAN Madara awakened his Sharingan as a child, with one tomoe in both eyes.. By adulthood, his Sharingan was fully developed and active near-constantly. Madaras mastery over the Sharingan surpassed every other member of the Uchiha clan. Only he could tell the difference between a shadow or wood clone, and the original. With brief eye contact, Madara could place targets under genjutsu and paralyse them or relay information. He could even trap the Nine-Tails, and summon it as a powerful tool in battle. By programming one of his eyes to activate Izanagi after his death, he was able to alter reality and resurrect himself. MANGEKYŌ SHARINGAN Madara and his brother Izuna were the first Uchiha to awaken the Mangekyō Sharingan. Madara knew about other users Mangekyō techniques, and was also capable of discerning the mechanics of these techniques with brief observation. After stealing Kakashi Hatakes Mangekyō Sharingan, he was able to use Kamui on himself immediately. With his eyesight deteriorating from overuse, he replaced his original eyes with Izunas, restoring his vision and gaining the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan. The straight tomoe (直巴, Choku Tomoe) of his Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan granted him fluidity in his movements when fighting. Having awakened both his Mangekyō, Madara could use Susanoo. The ribcage could withstand an Ultra-Big Ball Rasengan and As strength, and he could produce a legged Susanoo. His Susanoo wielded two to four undulating blades that could be thrown and controlled remotely. He could also use Yasaka Magatama of varying sizes. When fully produced, Madara would hover inside Susanoo to grant him a greater range of movement. Madara could stabilise Susanoo into its Complete Body form, causing it to resemble a tengu with outer armour that was nearly impenetrable. A secondary pair of arms wielded sheathed katana which could be used to bisect mountains. According to himself, its power was comparable to that of the tailed beasts, and no one was said to have lived to see it a second time. He was also able to shape his Susanoo into an armour for Kurama, which synergised their abilities. RINNEGAN Years after infusing himself with Hashiramas DNA and unknowingly mixing Indras and Asuras chakra, Madaras Sharingan evolved into the Rinnegan. As the eyes original owner, only he could use them to their fullest power. He was able to switch between both dōjutsu. With the Rinnegan, Madara could use all of the abilities of the Six Paths Technique, such as the Preta Path to absorb chakra. With the Deva Path, he could perform Chibaku Tensei on a massive scale. Also, with the Outer Path, he could create chakra chains that could restrain all nine tailed beasts. In addition, he could create black receivers for various melee and supplementary purposes. Through the usage of his Rinnegan with that of his Sharingan, Madara could summon meteorites to cause widespread destruction. When under the Impure World Reincarnation, Madara was unable to use all of his Rinnegan abilities. After being revived, and obtaining one of his actual eyes, he could summon and control the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path, as well as generate a corporeal invisible shadow to aid him in battle. With senjutsu chakra, this shadow was powerful enough to physically hurt the tailed beasts. With access to both of his Rinnegan, Madara could produce at least four shadows to aid him. RINNE SHARINGAN As the Ten-Tails jinchūriki and with both of his Rinnegan, Madara approached the moon and awakened a Rinne Sharingan on his forehead, which he could use to reflect the eye onto the moon, allowing him to cast the Infinite Tsukuyomi and trap everyone beside himself in genjutsu.
