20 Year Old Might Actually Save Our Oceans
We've been destroying this earth since the industrial age. Sounds harsh but its true. Deforestation, pollution, and the destruction of the oceans are running our planet, our homes, our race.
To get you to really wrap your mind around just how badly our Oceans are check out some stats from the unesco.org.
- The United Nations Environment Programme estimated in 2006 that every square mile of ocean contains 46,000 pieces of floating plastic.
- Plastic debris causes the deaths of more than a million seabirds every year, as well as more than 100,000 marine mammals.
-There are now close to 500 dead zones covering more than 245,000 km² globally, equivalent to the surface of the United Kingdom. Dead zones are areas where most marine life cannot survive, resulting in the collapse of some ecosystems.
So as you can see, this is a SERIOUS issue.
Thankfully, a brilliant 20 year old has figured out a way to use the oceans own current to actually clean itself. Oh and by the way, his plan not only wont harm any animals, it will actually make a HUGE IMAPCT on the very large clean up we need to do; unlike our current "clean up plan" which would take over a 1,000 years to actually work.
Check out the video below and let me know what you guys think!!

I've been following his progress since his college project, proposing this effort. It's such an incredible, sensible concept, and I can't wait to see how it pans out. this could really demonstrate the possibilities of man-made systems that can repair some of the damage we've done.
