6 Tips That Will Help You Get the Most Out of Fallout: New Vegas
As someone who's kind of broke and can't really be playing the newest games as they come out, I find myself returning to old titles I have just to kill the time. But sometimes playing the same game over and over again can get kind of boring. So, there are certain things that help me get the most out of my games.
So for the next couple of days/weeks, I'm going to make cards on how you can get the most out of your games. Today, I'm starting with my absolute favorite game of the Fallout series, New Vegas. Mostly because it'll be easier for me to explain how I get the most out of my games since I've done it with this title so many times.
Fallout: New Vegas is really one of the best games to do this with because of the options that are open to you (especially if you have all of the DLC). Essentially, you can do what I outline below in any Open World RPG, so some of these suggestions might be obvious while others will be a little... insane.

1. Build a Totally Different Character

This is one of the more obvious things you can do in order to get more fun out of New Vegas. Played the first time through focused on sneaking around and gun skills? Maybe this time, go back and play a completely Melee run. Or you can try to get through the game focusing on your non-violent skills (Barter, Speech, etc.).

2. Don't Fast Travel. Ever.

This is one of the hardest things to do especially if you got in the habit of fast traveling everywhere. It'll really immerse you in the world and maybe you'll find some new things in the Wasteland that you didn't know about previously. It's one of the things that I've done and loved doing.

3. Don't Rotate Your Saves

I'm a real stickler for rotating saves. Mostly because I'm terribly afraid of my game crashing. But also, I sometimes regret making certain decisions and want the ability to go back and turn left instead of right, so to speak. But if you don't rotate saves and overwrite one file over and over again, you're stuck to a weird kind of permanence. There's no going back and every decision has weight to it.

4. Really Get into Roleplaying

As a roleplaying game, you're automatically roleplaying whatever character you're currently controlling. But, you can also use your imagination in order to build your character even further. Yeah, so what you're this courier who got shot in the face. But who were you before that? I personally had one play through where I was a scavenger/hunter, so I made most of my caps by hunting different Wasteland creatures and selling their hides/meats. And that being said...

5. You Should Completely Forget About the Main Quest

Do what you need to do in order to get to the Vegas Strip (which is tied to the Main Quest) but after that, forget it. Who cares. You don't. You have this rich backstory for your character and maybe they want to live their life out in the wastes. Maybe you do quests here and there to make a couple of caps. But stick to whatever your character's backstory is. My hunter, for example, only accepted/completed quests that would make sense for him to do. So, doing quests to help the NCR or Caesar's Legion weren't things he'd be interested in. But if none of these things interest you then...

6. Play a Hardcore Permadeath Run

So, now you have to pay attention to your thirst, hunger, and sleep levels. And then if you die, you just have to start all over again. Yep. Hold yourself to this. It'll make you play more carefully. It'll make you really pay attention to everything going on and it'll inform your decisions when you take on quests. It's one of the more intense things you can do and requires a lot of dedication. So, when you're definitely at the end of your rope, do this one.
And that's it for Fallout: New Vegas! Hopefully these 6 tips can help you get the most out of Fallout: New Vegas. Are there any other games you'd like me to help you get the most out of? Let me know in the ol' comments section or if you have any tips of your own for some of your favorite old games, make your own card!

I like the idea man, I've been spending to much money buying new games and haven't beat so many. I never did your backlog request card, because mine is literally so big it'd take me to long to list..your suggestions were valid and would prove to be an entertaining way to replay New Vegad

#7 Read every note and terminal. seriously some of them have some good side stories related to the location where you're at. I can't remember the ones in NV but the one I most remember is in fo3 where there's this office and the computer is transcribing what the people are saying then it transcribes a nuke exploding. It gives more depth to world and worth reading everything imo.
