In honor of the fact that this weekend I wrote out my life story in the form of a letter, sat down with my mother, and told her all the things (that I could think of) that I've always wanted to tell her, here is this lyric. I don't know if what I told her will change anything or make anything better, but I hope she at least knows me a bit better than she did before, and maybe she will even be more supportive of me in the future. Take action in your life. Have you taken action before?
People always tell me to be humble, modest, and to put other first, but I'm finding that that does more harm than good. Even on an airplane, when the air masks come down, you are instructed to put your own mask on before you help others. Do the same in your life. There are things that have to be done to help you become the best version of yourself. There are risks that need to be taken and choises that need to be made in order to care for yourself, because if you don't know yourself, love yourself, and believe in yourself, how can you do the same for others? I am making some changes to my life. It's time. I am 18 and it is time for me to become who I am meant to become. I will always love and respect my family, but I need to take care of me before I can be of any use to them.
