From the signature cocktails menu at Ice Plant in St. Augustine is this citrus creation that looks like the greatest wake-up call you could look forward to after a long night's sleep! At $11, it's neither a cheap, nor an expensive cocktail.

Friends of mine are actually traveling to St. Augustine next weekend and I've already put Ice Plant on their itinerary, with this drink as a must-have in my stead! I haven't been to St. Augustine in, what seems, a hundred years. I think I was 12 or 13. It's sort of a blur. Guess I ought to go back.
Traveling from the West Coast to the East Coast, however, is probably the worst part of travel. That 5-6 hour plane ride is ridiculous! How are we not on planes that can go faster?! What's the deal?

Here's my take on this fabulous invented holiday, which I already celebrated last night with a Mango Margarita, and plan on celebrating again tonight with a shot of Patrón (okay, fine, a couple shots of Patrón). What could be better than a heaping plate of freshly cut watermelon? Nothing, you say? THINK AGAIN: juicy watermelon wedges soaked in a mixture of tequila, Triple Sec, and simple syrup, then sprinkled with sea salt. HEAVEN. And best of all, it's incredibly easy to make at home. Tequila-Soaked Watermelon Wedges Prep Time: 5 min. Chill Time: 45 min. Difficulty: Easy. Recipe by Martha Stewart Living (Does she have a son in a frat or something?) All you need is... 1 seedless watermelon 1 cup sugar 3/4 cup water 1/2 cup tequila 1/4 cup Triple Sec 2 limes, halved or cut into wedges Flaked sea salt or coarse salt Here's what you do... 1. Quarter watermelon and cut into wedges around 1 inch thick. Arrange slices in a single layer in two 9"x13" baking dishes. 2. In a small saucepan, bring sugar, water, Triple Sec, and tequila to a boil. Cook, stirring, until sugar dissolves (about 1 minute). Let cool slightly. 3. Pour syrup over watermelon wedges and refrigerate for at least 45 minutes. 4. Remove watermelon from syrup and arrange on a platter. Squeeze limes over melon, and season with salt. Homemade Jolly Rancher Vodka
With so many vodka flavors out there, you may be thinking, Why should I make my own? Because this is about Jolly Ranchers! As many of you know, I don't do a lot of drinking, maybe a few fruity drinks a year, but another Vingler wanted to do a collaboration between DIY and alcoholic beverages. Supplies Needed: vodka (unflavored) airtight containers (Ikea has bottles like these) Jolly Ranchers (about 10-12 pieces per small bottle) funnel Divide the Jolly Ranchers up by color, adding 10-12 pieces per bottle. This will help both the color and the flavor stay true to the candy. You can add more candy than this if you want something super sweet and intense. Using a funnel, pour the unflavored vodka into the bottles. After about one hour in the vodka, the Jolly Ranchers began to break down. This is the time you want to shake the bottle up. Let it sit over night. By the next morning, give the vodka a good and vigorous shake. The candy should be completely dissolved and ready for cocktails! Uh, so apparently a company by the name of The Order of Yoni, makes beer from vaginal yeast. I don't know if they are joking, but they seem like they are pretty serious about this. What they do is take bacteria from vagina, isolate the bacteria, clean it, multiply it, and prepare a culture starter kit that's used in a brewery. *BARF* The company choose a "beautiful, very intelligent woman for their first beer." The Order of Yoni says that they try to ensure the safety of the product. Because the procedures of isolation and preparation prevent other bacteria and viruses from surviving, the final product is clean and healthy - so they say.
