Emoji are a rapidly growing way to communicate in the 21st century. Outside of it's adaptability in the tech world, the main reason it has become popular is because adults have no hope of understanding what an eggplant, a knife, and a smiley-face mean in context.
With that being said, there are a couple adults hip the lingo (yeah, I used lingo) and for those who are, you can find out how harsh some messages are that these kids are sending. Recently, a young girl got out of hand with her text messaging, the police caught wind and the 12-year-old girl might be headed to jail thanks to emoji.
The trouble started when the Fairfax, Virginia, girl posted an Instagram message filled with bomb, knife, and gun emoji and the words “meet me in the library Tuesday.”
Obviously, the police thought this was serious, so they nabbed this girl in a heartbeat. If that sounds like a threat, well, it was, but the idea was to get another girl in the school in trouble.
