Self-love is hard. It's easy to be controlling and self-destructive when you are your own worst enemy. And maintaining self-love is also hard. Especially when our surroundings are changing and bogging us down. But I found surrounding myself with positive things (even just music) can help a lot.
I heard some Vinglers are having a rough start to their month, and with all the singles on here, this is just a reminder you don't need someone to tell you are awesome!! You just need to love yourself.
I Love Me - Hailee Stienfeld
Ok, let me say at first I really didn't really care for this song. I thought it was cheesy and silly. But after listening 2 more times, I allowed my self to be obsessed. The message is clear and awesome. Because when it comes down to it, you are the person
"Gonna love myself, no I don't need anybody else!"
What's not to love about that?!
Go Outside - Cults
This song is kinda a parallel between the person that wants to stay inside and someone that wants to make light of their day outside. I think the biggest part of this song is this person coming to terms with where they want to be, and not being bogged down by the people in their life. More of an indie hip song, but a nice reminder that we all have to live our own lives.
I Wanna Get Better - Bleachers
This song isn't exactly Self-Love, but it's definitely Self-Improvement. It's about recognizing your imperfections, and taking those to make a better you. It's about understanding loss and learning from it. And what's more self-love than that?
Good as Hell - Paul Rey
This is the first song I've ever heard by this artist, but it's a rising song now. The song itself is pretty self explanatory: I don't really know with the f*ck I'm doing with my life, but I feel good so whatever happens, happens. Gotta admire that outlook.
Confident - Demi Lavato
Demi Lovato really blossomed this year, after her personal struggles (and being open about them) she got back on there feet and totally blew us all away. But when you get back on your feet, sometimes people question your motives. Is it just me but sometimes when women are confident they are seen as aggressive or consisted? But really, what's wrong with being confident?? Nothing.
