Here's your friendly neighborhood moderator dropping in with just a little bit of an announcement, really just a small bit of a guideline for anybody who might ever find themselves needing it.
It's the internet. Trolls are as much a part of the internet as anything else. They lurk in spaces online, haggling and hassling people for their own sense of self-fulfillment. It's the nature of the world wide web. Some people don't have anything better to do, so they spend their time trying to make other people uncomfortable.
Thankfully, there are ways of dealing with Trolls.
The fuel for Trolls' fire is attention. The only reason they get up in the morning is in the hopes of getting someone they don't know riled up online. They feed off of the energy and attention they receive from acting out. The easiest and first step to deflating Trolls is to just ignore them.
If they can't get a rise out of you, they have no power.
Reach out to a Moderator
Okay, so you've tried ignoring the Troll, but they're still getting to you. Don't worry, just take a deep breath and relax for a minute. Then shoot a message to the moderator or a member of the support team - in this present case, me or @danse, @tbell2 @tylerdurso @hikaymm @voidx - and ask them for help.
We're here for the people in our communities. Not the Trolls.
Report their comments
Sometimes these comments are something that push you too much, make you too uncomfortable. In these situation, you should report their comments. Next to the comment will be a little flag symbol, with which you can report.
That way the Vingle Gods can check it out and they'll be notified of the Troll's activity.
So you've exhausted your options and the relentless Troll is still bothering you. You still have your remaining trump card, which is to outright block them. This will stop them from being able to directly engage with you.
On Vingle, you can do this by clicking on the little flag on the Troll's profile.
There are three options with regards to blocking on Vingle:
Message Blocking - The Troll won't be able to ever message you directly
Comment Blocking - the Troll won't be able to ever comment on your cards.
Hide from feed - You won't ever have to see the Troll's cards in your feed.
You can also outright DELETE THEIR COMMENTS on your own cards, by clicking the same little flag icon on that comment. It is your card and your judgement to delete.
