The episodic Hitman game that's coming out on March 11th recently got another trailer. And it's aptly titled the season premiere trailer, which is a good thing because I think we all need to remember that this is an episodic game when it shouldn't be.
What'd you say? What? Well, yeah of course I'm salty. I love the Hitman series. I even enjoyed playing Absolution even though it was such a departure from Blood Money. And I really expected this game to be full release instead of a weird episodic thing.
And you know what? Maybe the game'll be good. But I'm not going to wait for each episode. That sounds horrible to me. I like my games being full experiences. And the only time I buy episodic games are when the full price of the game is well under 60 bucks.
And the trailer looks really, really good. And honestly, while watching the trailer I felt myself getting hype to play the game. But every time I saw something cool in the trailer, I remembered that this is for the episodic Hitman game.
I think most of my disdain for this episodic model comes from the fact that I know I'd get lost in playing this game. And I know if I got the first episode, I'd end up finishing it too soon and I'd probably be pretty upset that I couldn't move on to the next episode for another month or so.
But I will say this about the trailer. It looked extremely serious. Like almost way too serious -- which is fine -- but it doesn't really represent the way that I experienced the game.
It definitely missed out on moments like this one...
The season of Hitman starts on March 11th, 2016.
