I just got asked this by a friend of mine...and that question has been stuck on my mind ever since...
There's no denying that this anime is really a true masterpiece and I mean it with every sense of the word. I have honestly only seen it once, not have had myself any rewatch for any reason and even though I've tried, it couldn't be done.

How much then?

I'm full of it. Shigatsu is everywhere I go and see. It has become a part of my identity and perspective as to how I view anime and how I compare media and entertainment in any shape or form.
I've again and again held true to the belief of that Quality over Quantity will always prevail and that the effort and time put into something always makes it easier to bring our the objective values of an anime that we understand through subjective values, being emotions.
This is where Shigatsu shines the brightest, far more brighter than any other anime I've encountered so far. No other show or anime has gotten itself so closely tied to a particular set of emotions like Shigatsu has. It has an identity and a place, truly inside my heart.

What makes it special?

Well, you tell me...
Is it because of the simple, yet baffling story that so easy to follow and understand?
Is it because of the incredible and inspiring characters that feels more human and real than most people you know?
Is it because of their originality and idea of using music and heartfelt dialogue that drives the story forward?
Is it because of the breath-takingly beautiful art-style?
Is it because of the wonderful music that is so full of colours and displayed in so many forms of emotions?
I don't know
Maybe all above

I'm sure that as long as I have any love for anime, my love for it is shared equally much with Your Lie in April

A show I, of course, highly suggest

I have a friend who just recently watched this and was just covered in the emotions from it for days! To be hoenst, I think my version of this is A Lull in the Sea....its one of those shows that I internalized in a big way. I think we all have anime like that.
For someone who was a winner in many piano competitions, to see this anime I couldn't even imagine what I would have gone through if this happened to me. That is only one reason this anime was not only special but made me cry a river馃幑馃槶
