Masahiro Tanaka hit the ground running when he started with the Yankees.
Last year was up and down for Tanaka though. For starters, the Yankees as a whole wasn't the team that people have grown accustomed to. They made the playoffs, but they were clearly a weaker team than the year before.
Also, Tanaka suffered through multiple injuries last year. As a result, his product suffered on the field as well.
Tanaka spent the off-season resting. The Yankees made key additions to their roster. Does that mean we should invest in Tanaka?
In 2014, (when Tanaka was healthy) he posted a stat-line of 13-5 with a 2.77 ERA.
That's pretty good. The Yankees also had a pretty solid bullpen, which meant he didn't have to go as deep into games. Also, having a better offense behind him helped ease the pressure in numerous contests.
This year, the Yanks added bullpen help in Aroldis Chapman. This gives the Yanks a solid closer and two REALLY good set up guys for the 7th and 8th innings if needed.
If Tanaka stays healthy, I think a bounce back isn't far fetched. While he may not be your #1 pitcher on your fantasy team, he could be a REALLY GOOD #2 arm if things fall into place. Worse case, he should be your 3rd guy, but I there's nice value if you grab him at the right time.

What do you think? Is Masahiro Tanaka in for a big year in fantasy baseball?

Ehhh kind of against taking players right after they come back from injury. He's bound to get Tommy John sooner or later.
