A South American penguin was saved after being near death, covered in oil on a local beach back in 2011. The man who saved him was Joao Pereira de Souza, who lives near Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Luckily, the penguin, whose has been named 'Dindim' was able to recover after Souza cleaned the oil off and fed fish to him every day. For 11 months, Souza tried to release Dindim back to sea, but he refused. He wanted to stay with the man who cared and loved him.
After Dindim the penguin got new feathers, he decided it was time for him to go. But that's not the end of it, you guys.
IT GETS BETTER...
After a few months, the penguin returned! When he saw Souza, he followed him all the way back home. The penguin has returned every single year for eight months out of the year to be with his first friend.. The other months in the year? Well, he's shackin' it up off the coast of Argentina and Chile.
