This is not a drill.
You know those songs that were playing on the radio nonstop? Hits like "It's Time" and the one that's making me giggle, "Radioactive"? Yup. APPARENTLY THEY'RE ALL ABOUT SPIDER-MAN.
And not even like... good Spider-Man.
You might recall the universally panned musical about Spider-Man titled 'Turn off The Dark' [a title which makes no sense but SURE SOUNDS EDGY]. Music producer Alex da Kid hired the band Imagine Dragons to come up with some demos to help inspire U2 but apparently their songs were too good because he ended up hiring them for something that wasn't going to bomb (via). In that he signed the band to his label and just had them release their songs.
Why didn't we see it before?
For all we know this song is literally just about a spider.
IF I HAVE TO THINK ABOUT IT SO DO YOU.
It might feel impossible to take Imagine Dragons seriously now. But they, like Spider-Man overcame the adversity that was a poorly thought-out musical, and they've both gone on to make millions of dollars.
