Penguin swims to reunite with his human best friend
Sometimes, I wonder how nature can be this adorable and sweet. This story is perfect for a rough Monday, and I promise it will make your day instantly better.

A bond was formed.

A few years ago, a retired bricklayer, Joao Pereira de Souza, found a South American Magellanic penguin covered in oil and on the verge of death. De Souza took the sick bird in, cleaned him and gave him fish. He tried to release the penguin back into the wild, but the bird refused to leave. Then, after 11 months with de Souza, the bird disappeared one day.

The reunion began.

The penguin wasn't gone for long. After a few months, the penguin came back to de Souza. The penguin found de Souza on the beach and then followed him home. And this reunion has become a tradition. The penguin spends about 8 months out of the year with de Souza and then he makes the migration to the coast of Argentina or Chile for the remaining months. De Souza lives on an island near Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Watch this video to see more of their adorable and strong bond.
"I love the penguin like it’s my own child and I believe the penguin loves me. No one else is allowed to touch him. He pecks them if they do. He lays on my lap, lets me give him showers, allows me to feed him sardines and to pick him up."

Their bond is truly strong enough to cross borders!
