At GDC yesterday, Sony announced the price point for the PSVR. And it's just as expensive as the Hive or the Rift. I'm not too surprised at the price point because these VR machines will probably be super expensive until the future. And by "the future", I mean when VR is what everyone uses to interact with anything.
The weird thing about the way they announced the price point for PSVR is that they initially announced it at $399. But they didn't include the fact that you'll need the Playstation camera in order to use it. And if you don't have one of those, it'll run you about 60 bucks.
So all together that would be around $460 not including tax. I'm not sure if I'll ever find myself in a place where I can afford the PSVR but I know if I do, even if I'm just temporarily flush with cash, I know I'll waste it on this thing. For all of you that have PS4s, do you think you'd get one of these things?
VR is just a little to rich for my blood now. It's going to be awesome in the future and come time when everyone has one that's when I'll get it.
Much reasonable pricing than others, which is nice~
Since it's basically its own console, from what little I've seen, the price really isn't that bad. When you consider brand new PS4s are going for around $400, I think, it's what I would expect for a new console. It's still much cheaper than what I heard the Rift was going to be. I dunno if I would go for it... I don't even have a PS4 yet, and I have problems with seeing up close. If this is a screen right in front of your eyes, I'm pretty much outta luck with this one.
I know my son will want one but he's gonna have to wait a bit for it
