I came across this video a few years ago, and I still think about this story often.

Eu Não Quero Voltar Sozinho (I Don't Want to Go Back Alone) is a Brazilian short film focusing on the life of three friends. Leo, who is blind, and Giovana have been friends forever. Their friendship is shaken up a bit when the new boy, Gabriel, joins their duo.

You can watch it below (with subtitles!) or check my breakdown below.

We meet the inseparable Leo and Giovana at school, the same day that the new boy Gabriel joins their class.

He is awkward and having trouble adjusting, so the two friends invite him to walk home with them.
They soon become close friends, doing everything together. Until now, however, Leo had always used Giovana as his support system.

One day, Gabriel offers to help Leo get home when Giovana had to leave early.

They start to walk home this way from then on, letting Giovana take the shorter route home and letting the two boys get to know each other better.

The boys realize that Giovana has romantic feelings for Leo when she suddenly becomes jealous of the boys' close friendship.

After thinking it over, Leo decides that no matter what, Giovana will be his best friend. He decides to let her in on his biggest secret.

He confesses that he loves Gabriel and that he hopes it doesn't ruin their friendship.

She runs off, clearly upset, leaving Leo to walk home by himself for the first time in a long time.

When Leo arrives home, someone comes rushing into his room behind him.

Assuming it is Giovana, he starts blabbering, telling her that he is sorry that he can't control his feelings for Gabriel and that he didn't want to hurt her and....
Scroll to the right to see what happens (in case people don't want the ending spoiled!)
Leo is confused by what happened, but when Giovana finally comes to his house to apologize, and tells him that she hadn't been to his house earlier that day, he realizes who it was.

The story is continued by a full length film:
