Hey guys, back with more fantasy baseball news to help everyone prepare for upcoming drafts!
The Oakland Athletics are one of the best small market teams in baseball in regards to developing young talent (now if only they can keep them.) In regards to pitching, they do a great job finding guys and grooming them into star players in the MLB.
While Oakland may not have the best overall team in baseball this year, their is some talent on the roster. One of the stars on the team is pitcher Sonny Gray.
I know they play in a market that doesn't get a lot of coverage but this kid is amazing. He may be one of the top 10 pitchers in baseball this year.
In 2015, Sonny Gray posted a solid statline of 14-7 with 169k while delivering a stron 2.73 ERA.
Gray may not blow you away with his strikeouts, but he gets people out and does a great job getting hitters to hit his pitches in the wrong spots on the bat. His delivery is solid and he's poised on the mound. At 26 years old, he still has room to grow. If Oakland can produce more offense around him, he could win even more games this year.
I believe Gray will continue to evolve as a pitcher. It's the GM's job to surround him with talent. If Oakland has a strong year like the Cubs did last year, you could see his value rise like Jake Arrieta.
While I wouldn't say that Grey is a top 5 pitching talent, it's not far fetched to say he's a top 10 guy. For teams who grab their first pitcher in the 2nd or 3rd round of 12-man leagues, Grey is your ace for sure.

Do you think Sonny Gray could make a push at the Cy Young this year?

Is Sonny Gray the best young pitcher no one is talking about in fantasy baseball?

I actually disagree @mchlyang I think he has potential to make it to the top 3
Def someone I would consider in the second/third spot for my pitching rotation...but I don't think he's a top 3 Cy Young candidate.
