Hey guys! Back with more fantasy baseball news to help everyone prepare for their upcoming drafts!
Shortstop is one of the hardest positions to fill in fantasy baseball. After the top 2 or 3 guys, it's often a toss up. You have to be very active in the early part of the season to catch the trendy player and nab him before he takes off.
In my opinion, this years trendy player to nab at shortstop is Starlin Castro.
In 2015, Starlin posted a solid stat-line of 265 AVG, 11HR and 69 RBI.
While these numbers won't blow you away, he was on a Cubs team that progressively got better offensively as the season progressed. He also hit in a unfavorable spot in the lineup to accumulate a lot of runs.
Things will be different in New York. Starlin was bought in to hit early in the lineup and produce. In 2012, he stole 25 bases, so the speed is there. If he hits well, he could easily nab 30 steals and be one of the top player in runs scored this year.
While he isn't ranked in the top 50 players in the MLB, Castro should be on every draft board.
