Growing up Puerto Rican and visiting my family's home, I realize how much of the Puerto Rican culture is hanging around in the kitchen. Here's some things you probably have...

1 - Fake Fruit

This was always a tease.

2 - Pots & Pans in the Oven

You gotta agree this is pretty damn smart.

3 - A Fridge Covered in Magnets

Oh, there goes the fake fruits again! This time on the fridge...

4 - Butter Containers Used as Tupperware

5 - Freshly Made Sofrito

Breathe in, breath out...smell the most wonderful smell on this planet.

6 - A Freezer Filled With Pasteles

It's always pastel season.

7 - The Required Seasonings: Sazon + Adobo

If you don't have these two items, you're doing something wrong.

8 - Frozen Pernil

Pernil is not for used everyday, but we have to make sure we have it in the freezer when we're feeling celebratory!

9 - A Pil贸n

This is traditional as hell, and super efficient.

10 - Abuela Being Awesome

Physically if she's alive, and spiritually if she's not...
I think I still have that same pilon in the house somewhere, but I don't actually use it!
This is so true lol 馃憣馃徏馃槣馃嚨馃嚪
@danidee and I was talking about platanos the other day (and I am still trying to get them ripe enough for my pastelon!) ....Do you own any pilons??
Also bahahah, my mom used to use a pil贸n from Mexico when I was a little girl. I used to always steal it and try to use it as a toy though.
