Do you think being single makes it harder to see your self worth? A good friend texted me today needing to talk. This is what she said: "Need someone for real talk for a minute- I feel like I am getting less cool and less attractive as I age and it's making me sad. And being single for long I think amplifies those feelings. And I am super isolated with work right now." This is what I said to her: "That is definitely not true and is your crazy smart, crazy over active brain getting to you for a sec. You are getting more amazing and MORE cool by the day!! Being single absolutely has mades me feel less sure of my attractiveness and worth in the past. It's important that those things come from inside yourself, but at the same time, it's so understandable to want validation on that. I love you and I think you're incredible. And I still have the biggest girl crush on you of all time." I'm not sure I gave the right advice, but I did my best... Any other words I could share with her right now? Has anyone else ever felt like this? It's an unfamiliar feeling to me, sort of, and I wish I could get in her head better. Thank you so much in advance!
I wholeheartedly understand her dilemma. Everyone at some point needs an outside source to validate what they already know to be true. Not usually a family or close friend because they "have" to say it. Even the strongest of us need a hug and to be told its ok. The best you can do is to give her what support and affection she will take from you until she can regain her balance. To you it will seem like nothing but it will mean the world to her. There are just some things in life that we have to do ourselves.
I felt those feelings before, is bettet off not rejecting that feeling. Yeah is lonely and feeling insecure of not thinking u are attractive, but able to unthink that you/she needs someone to be told that she's attractive, and that's how she'll get confidence. Not just from guys bit from girls too, everyone needs or deserves to be call beautiful, handsome, gorgeous,ext... even at random occasions. Well, that's my own advice I give to my friends. It did worked, but with ur friend not sure if this advice is even close to define her being single. But hope this helped on some ppl
Maybe suggest that she tries something totally new and out of the box, or something that she hasnt done in a while. Taking up a hobby sounds a little lame but seriously it gets your creative juices flowing and you might meet new people. Plus you might stop in the middle of whatever you're doing and have no choice but to say to yourself "whoa im cool!' hahahah
