DIY Missoni Chevron Shoes
Step 1: Gather supplies. One pair of white canvas sneakers Ruler Manila file folder or other stiff paper Pencil Scissors Fabric markers in various colors (ones with both a thick and thin tip are best) Step 2: Using the ruler, draw a straight line near the edge of the manila file folder. Step 3: Draw a second line a half-inch down from the first one. Use the ruler to make tick marks at every half-inch interval on both lines. Step 4: Next, create a zig-zag pattern inside the two parallel lines by connecting every other tic. For example, start at the bottom left-hand corner of the lower line, and connect to the second tic mark on the upper line. Connect the second tic-mark on the upper line to the third tic mark on the lower line, and so on. Step 5: Now that you've just created all of those triangles, cut away the lower row of them (sorry!). You should be left with what looks like a row of teeth at the bottom of the folder. Feel free to use this template to create a shark or bear costume for Halloween. Step 6: Okay, now take out your plain canvas shoes and remove the lacesโ€”you don't want to color over them, nor do you want to try to color around them. Step 7: Position the template onto the toe of the sneaker. You'll be working your way from the front to the back of the shoe. Position the template wherever you like it best, but we felt it was easiest to keep things lined up by having the point of one triangle in the center of the shoe. Step 8: Move the template back and trace another row of triangles, making sure all of the points more or less match up with the previous rows. To get a true Missoni look, vary the spacing of the templateโ€”there's no right and wrong with this, so feel free to have lots of thin rows and then one giant row, followed by a medium and small row, and so on. Step 9: Okay, now it's time for the fun part! Grab your fabric markers and start coloring in the rows, making sure that each row is a different color. The colors don't have to be spaced evenly or in any sort of pattern (but go for it if you want!), so feel free to switch it up as much as you'd like. If your markers have differently sized tips, use the thin edge to outline the rows, and the thick to fill them in. Step 10: To make your kicks look extra-polished, make sure you color the inside rim of the sneaker! You've come all this way, so don't skimp out on this step. Step 11: Now, it's time to color the tongue of the sneaker. This part can be a little awkward since it's hard to get a good angle, but don't worry, since you only see a little bit of the tongue, you don't have to be too accurate. Just do your best and color the parts you can see, trying to match the colors and patterns from either side of the shoe. Step 12: All that's left to do now is lace up the sneakers and take them for a test drive! Your friends are going to be so enamored with your DIY skills, that they're going to try to get you to make them a pair. Beware!
Unusual Things You Should Carry In Your Purse
We all have the usual things floating around in our bags. Tissues, wallet, glasses, phone chargers, the stray pills that probably get rid of head aches but who cares, gum. Heres a list of a few more unusual things you should pack away because they can always come in handy someday. A flash light Not the typical purse item but will come in very handy in extreme situations or in simple situations when you drop your phone under the seat at nighttime and don't have anyone in your car to call in for you. Tampons There is no worse feeling then getting your period and not having a tampon. Honestly life just feels a bit hopeless at times like that. Honestly this isn't really unusual but more of a necessity. Cork screw Open wine whenever and wherever you need! The situation of having a nice bottle of wine and no way to open it comes up a lot more often then you would think. Also you can get a cork screw that also has a bottle opener. Some of them even have a knife which could also come in handy, although it is a little small. Pen and paper I know that sounds so stupid since everyone has an iPhone now and I may be alone in the thought that phones can not be trusted but having a little notebook and pen is always good. You can use it for anything. A book! Face it, unless were going out, in which case we would have a clutch, we all pretty much have huge bags. A soft cover book can easily fit. The hard cover book to war and peace maybe not the greatest idea. Flip flops. Especially if you are a working girl its always nice to be able to take off the heels or cute but to ally painful flats and rock flip flops going home. Your feet will thank you and the Old Navy flops are super cheap so you can get all the colors. The Pill Bottle Survival Kit This is really cool! Someone realized that you can most essential survival things into a tiny pill bottle. Totally portable and unique! In the lithe pill bottle you will have: - 3 mini straw fire starters, 3 matches, 1 bandage, 1 striker, 1 hook,1 weight, tinfoil, some fishing line, razor blade,2 safety pins, 3 feet of duct tape, 2 advils, 1 birthday candle ,whistle made from straw ,Neosporin in a straw ,salt in a straw. I have linked the actual site that should each piece right here! Pill Bottle Survival Kit Hair ties. You would be surprised how annoying it is when you have a whole bag full of stuff but nothing to use if your hair tie breaks. Just buy a pack of hair ties for your bag and you will always be prepared. Pepper Spray Although I would not be surprised if most of you already have that tucked away. Walking around at night is unfortunately no joke for women.
DIY Glitter Shoes!
What youโ€™ll need: -Any pair of flats, canvas shoes, or loafers -Mod Podge (available at craft stores) -Glitter (gold, silver, etc.) -Newspaper & a plate or bowl -Foam brushes or paint brushes -Clear coat spray paint (to make sure the glitter stays on!) First, youโ€™ll want to stuff newspaper down into the shoe so that no glitter or glue gets inside! I removed the laces from my shoes also, just to make sure they didnโ€™t get all gunked up. Pour some of the mod podge onto a plate or into a bowl. I used a paper plate because they are disposable and it was easier to use a flat surface to get a thin coating of the mix. Next, youโ€™ll want to pour some glitter into the mod podge. Youโ€™ll want about half as much glitter as there is mod podge, because you donโ€™t want the mix to be too thick. Mix the glitter and mod podge together using one of your foam brushes. Then get ready to paint your shoes! Paint a thin coat of the mix onto the shoe. Make sure that it is smooth and not too chunky because it will dry that way! I didnโ€™t want to paint the whole shoe, so I only painted the front and the back, leaving the middle white. Once you have the mod podge mix on the shoe, youโ€™ll want to pour a SMALL amount of glitter onto the spots you just painted. This just gives the shoe a little extra glitter, and makes sure that there are no white spots. When youโ€™re finished adding the glitter to the shoes, youโ€™ll want to clean off any extra glitter that is on the shoe because you donโ€™t want it to be stuck there when you spray the clear coat. I used a damp paper towel to clean off the edges and the bottom. Last but not least, spray your shoes with a clear coat spray paint. This makes sure that the glitter stays shiny and does not fall off the shoes. Make sure to read the directions on the can and do not get it on your skin or in your eyes. When this is done, youโ€™ll want the shoes to sit and dry overnight to make sure that they are ready to wear.

Why Hilary Duff's Clothes Shouldn't Define Her Motherhood
Stop slut shaming. Why is it that every time a mom posts a picture of herself where she feels good, the internet has to tear her down because it's too sexy, too provocative, or too inappropriate? Check out the picture that has garnered 118k likes and over 1,000 comments! Hilary Duff, don't let the haters get to you. The 28-year-old mom is under major heat after posting this photo on Tuesday of the outfit she wore to pick up her son Luca from school. Though Duff was feeling 'semi cute' in her very short shorts, tan top, and long trench, many fans had other opinions on her outfit. While Duff did invite her fans to tag themselves in their own #ootd, she got a reaction that were quite the opposite of what she had probably hoped for. "Hey moms! I came up with a semi cute outfit for school drop off! I usually roll in sweat pants or lulu lemons and look like a disaster but this morning I managed to throw something cute together and I thought I would share," Duff captioned the photo. "Cut offs or jeans. A light weight trench over a sweater or tee, cross body bag sneaks or booties and a pair of Sunnies! Now you try! Tag me in your photo (annnnd you don't have to wear such a serious face haha)." Everything from Instagram user seรฑoritaatomasita writing, "I am sorry, the only issue that I have with her outfit is how tiny her shorts are. It given men mix signals about it's okay for them to cat call a female because what she wears. Plus the outfit does not posh" to other user simplelittleway writing, "I have always like her but no way is this appropriate. They look like panties. To whoever said the only ones bothered by this are insecure moms that never lost their baby fat. I love my body and I am thin. I however would never pick my son up in that. It's inappropriate for kids to see woman in their panties. Also I would not want to embarrass my son." Some moms are furious. However, not everyone has the same opinion. Instagram user iledahorsetowater wrote, "Rock it! What is up with all the negativity?? I think you are doing a fabulous job!" Even user shenry1977 loves Duff's style, "Your outfit rocks! Haters = motivators!!!" Many other moms commented that Duff is looking better than ever and there is no reason to retire the shorty shorts to fit a very skewed social standard. Women who support other women, we need more of this. But here's the thing, Duff should be able to wear this because she feels comfortable and it makes her happy. For a society that constantly promotes feminism and girls uniting with other girls to combat slut shaming and gender stereotyping, the negativity comments are doing just the opposite. A mom can be a mom AND sexy, pretty, cute, gorgeous, stunning, funny, and appealing. Just because you have a child does not mean that a woman should sacrifice her identity. Everyone freaked out weeks ago about Kim Kardashian's almost full nude mirror pick and it looks like the same haters have made their way to Duff's post. Leave Duff alone, she looks amazing. One word : WERK.
