The Banner Saga was a game I initially passed up on until I saw how beautiful it looked. When I first heard about the game, I wasn't interested because I didn't know how I felt about a 2D Tactical RPG that had you manage the journey of your group as well. It sounded like a lot of micromanaging to me and I didn't want to get into it.
But there's no denying that the game is great to look at. It's a lot different than anything we've seen as of late because it's all hand-drawn 2D art. I'm glad that was enough to get me wanting to see more of the game. Anytime I see "hand-drawn" attached to any project, I immediately get excited. And you can definitely see all the hard work put into making the game look as stunning as it is.
So when sequel got announced a couple of years ago, I was excited to hear about it. But since it was announced years ago, I sort of forgot about the whole thing... Until today.
The announcement trailer for The Banner Saga 2 is above (and it's kind of old) but it still gets the job done. I can't help but get goosebumps every time I watch it. It honestly made me want to play the first one over again just so I could remind myself of the story and the game mechanics. Either way though, I'm glad they finally announced a release date.
The Banner Saga 2 will be available for PC/Mac on April 19th, 2016.
