Cueto gave us all a scare after he got beamed in the face last week.
Fortunately, no concussion, just a contusion. He hasn’t appeared in a Major League sprinting training game after the incident, but showed a strong six-inning start in a game against the Giants minor Leaguers on Sunday. He allowed a run on six hits, along with a walk and four strikeouts. Also, he picked off two runners.
Another promising sign he had was that he raised his pitch count to 74 (50 strikes). This is great news for us as we are only ten days away from Opening Day! We need the trio (Bumgarner, Samardzija, and Cueto) all ready to start pitching on Opening Day.
