In the past year, the MLB has shown it's desire to expand into new markets as much as possible.
Earlier this week we saw an MLB game in Cuba for the first time in over 50 years. The MLB is hoping to further expand their reach this weekend with two exhibition games between the Houston Astros and the San Diego Padres in Mexico City.
This is the first time in over a decade that we have played games in Mexico City,” said Chris Park, MLB’s senior vice president for growth, strategy and international. “Hopefully, this is just the first taste of being a regular presence in Mexico City and across the country.”
The MLB has roughly a dozen players from Mexico in uniform at the moment, including all-star first baseman Adrian Gonzalez. There is a market and interest there. Many players wish the MLB would start academies there like they do in other countries to help kids learn how to play the game properly.
Geographically, the move makes sense. It wouldn't be too costly from a travel perspective if the team is placed in the right division, and I think many players would welcome the games in Mexico.

Are you excited for the MLB games in Mexico? Do you think and MLB franchise will ever be stationed in Mexico?

I think it's not a bad idea. They already have a huge fan base and there's a lot of talent in Mexico. So why not!
