Duke knows how to win with grace, but they are struggling with how to handle defeat at the moment.
During the post game conference after their loss to the Oregon Ducks in the sweet 16, Coach K let off a bit of steam. Rather than focus the energy on his players performance in the game, he decided to bring attention to a late game 3 the Ducks shot when he felt the end result of the game was decided.
"At the end of the game, there was a difference in the shot clock and the game clock," Altman said Friday. "I told Dillon to shoot it. So if anybody's got a problem with it, it should be directed at me.
Brooks, who celebrated after he hit the shot, said Krzyzewski told him that he's "too good of a player to be showing off in the end." Brooks said he told the coach that he was right.
"He was acting on my orders. I told him to shoot it. I didn't think he'd make it. It was a 30-footer, but there was a five-, six-second difference there."
Personally, I don't see any issue with his shot. If he wants to lock the clock run out that's fine, but if his coach told him to avoid the turnover, than shoot the ball. Players are on the floor to compete until the end of the game.
I think the topic of discussion should have been the dominant play by Oregon on both sides of the floor, not a 3-point shot near the end of the game. The didn't decide the result of the contest.

Classless act by Coach K. Was a bit disappointed when I heard about this.

Yeah...bad decision on Coach K's part to say that. And I don't think he even expected the three to go in haha
