Batman V Superman Opens With $424 Million Globally, Biggest Ever For a Comic Book Movie
Critics slammed it, Rotten Tomatoes reported it as rotten, CinemaScore gave it a B grade but nothing could stop this much anticipated DC flick from becoming the biggest opener ever for a comic book movie. Audiences flocked to see the three most iconic characters of DC universe on screen.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has grossed $170.1 million in North America and $254 million in other territories for a worldwide total of $424.1 million, the biggest of 2016, the biggest for a superhero film, the second biggest for Warner Bros. and the fourth biggest of all time. It became the fourth film to have a global opening of above $400 million and It's the biggest March opening weekend ever.
Ahead of the movie are only Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Jurassic World, and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 for all-time global openings.
