I had a chemical peel consultation this morning.

I woke up overjoyed and ready to feel the burn -- literally. It's been about three years or so since I last went in for a chemical peel and believe me when I say, I am long overdue. While meeting with the dermatologist he asked me what my intentions were for the chemical peel and why I personally wanted one. I mean, who wouldn't want a flawless and even complexion? I'll wait.
As we continued our conversation, he went on to say that he didn't think now was the best time for a chemical peel because I was currently breaking out. I was screaming on the inside, but remained as calm as possible on the outside.
Disclaimer: the image below is clearly makeup free. raw and super real.
I've been speaking of giving makeup a break for some time now and doing this whole 'less is more' movement, but the whole point was to start off with a fresh layer of skin -- aka a chemical peel. The dermatologist decided it would be best if I start using a few face products that treat hormonal acne and see where we get afterwards. If you know me than you know that I'm all about my natural skincare routine. Point blank, period.
While I'm not one to give up something before even attempting, I can't say I'm too excited about these strong products he has me using. Why can't I be Beyonce and just wake up flawless? The simple pleasures of life. If you're interested in keeping up with my new skincare journey and seeing where it gets me [if it gets me anywhere], stay tuned. Being a woman who wears makeup the majority of the time, I promise to keep it as raw and real as possible.

Have you ever been to the dermatologist? If so, for what?

Never been to a dermatologist. I just always used natural products and remedies .
Yes, Acne, Acne Marks and Lazer. The doctor had me use Retin A, doxycycline, clindamycin, and a benzo phone for my back. I had to quit it because it's burning my skin and now I back with raging acne because of new medication. I could not get the laser treatment because the doctor said my skin complexion was a bit too dark it would take a lot of treatments to get rid of it and on top of it my skin is very sensitive. So I definitely know the feeling about get those answers you real don't want to hear
I haven't been to a dermatologist yet, but I'm overdue, mostly because I have freckles all over my body that need to be checked every once in a while. I'm at high risk for skin cancer. I'd love to see one to figure out what my face needs, too. It's extra dry and oily at the same time... it's really annoying! Good luck with your makeupless routine, and I look forward to all of your cards about your journey!
And I'll join you on that one! Although I eat fairly healthy? I could always eat so much better @NnicFash
it probably is because I know I could start eating a bit healthier instead of you the crap I have been eating. that's going to be a new year's resolution. I'm going to start eating healthier. @jordanhamilton
