I just wasted 15 minutes of my day watching this latest preview video for Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. Okay, so maybe it wasn't a giant waste of time but I have this problem where I intentionally spoil things for myself as soon as it gets closer and closer to the release date.
So if you want to go into this game unsullied by spoilers and, I guess, mud -- this preview video is pretty muddy -- then maybe you should skip this all together and just enjoy that screenshot above which takes place during gameplay and isn't a cutscene. It's kind of awesome that this game is pushing the limits of what we're used to in video games.
One of the highlights of this video is how open-world it feels. As soon as they get in the jeep and -- I'd assume -- control goes to the player, they can literally drive wherever they want before they get to the objective.
I know that the game isn't truly open world but it allows for multiple paths to get to the next beat in the story. And I think giving the player that kind of freedom will only make this game more enjoyable for everyone who plays it. It's one of the things that gets me really excited for the game.
I already know that the story and the puzzles involved in the game will be right up my alley but knowing that I'll have the freedom to experience them the way I want to and how I want to gets me pretty pumped. While I watching, I couldn't help but look at other places I'd want to check out even though they were driving right towards the next part of the level.
Uncharted 4: A Thief's End will be available on PS4, exclusively, on May 10th, 2016
