No one knows why this is so funny.
Cows sitting like dogs has become the trendiest Twitter fad to sweep the internet this week. Thousands of people are tweeting about it, every meme is promoting it, and everyone is completely obsessed with talking about it. But what most people don't know is why would a cow ever sit like a dog in the first place? Well there's a lot more to it than you would assume.
For a cow to stand up, a cow must shift his or her weight to the front knees to then be able to stretch out the back legs to rise. However if the front knees are weakened or produce joint pain by shifting the weight there, many cows will opt to rise like a horse after sitting like a dog. This is a sign of musculoskeletal issues dealing with the pelvis or caudal vertebral column. Many sources have also claimed that digestion issues, large bowel movement pushing on the diaphragm or general rumen discomfort can lead to dog sitting behavior. Interesting!
