When someone says that they're a Christian a lot of people have a lot of ideas but generally people lump Christians together as a group of people who believe in God and then condemn or hate anyone else who refuses to believe in the same God. To know what a Christian is you must first look at the most important book in their life: the bible. This book was inspired by God and reveals one of the greatest love stories I have ever read. It tells of a God created the universe and everything in it. A God who is good, just and righteous. Who, because of His righteousness, sought to punish the world that He loved so much because of its sin and corruption (Romans 3:10). What you must understand however is that God is love, and He loved the world He created so much that He was willing to die for it (John 3:16). To put it simply the Christian faith is this: a man (or woman) who acknowledges themselves to be a sinner before a holy and righteous God, and professes in their hearts that they are in need of and accept the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross, in whom they believe on for the forgiveness of their sins past, present and future (John 14:6, Romans 10:9-10). I must say this as well to clarify my point: a Christian is not a Christian because he's better than anyone or because of some special worth that they have. I don't deserve to be saved, in fact the bible says I deserve death. Outside of my Saviour, Christ, I am just as vile and punishable as even the most hardened criminal. No, to be a Christian is to obtain the unmerited favour of God (Ephesians 2:8-9); to obtain a mercy that I am no more entitled to than you reading this card. His grace can reach even the vilest and most morally corrupt person no matter how far they run or how deep into sin they sink. His grace covers it all. All that's left for you to do is to choose. Now that you know what it means to be a Christian, will you accept God's free gift of salvation?
