What Is Fast Fashion?
What is fast fashion? Here are some reasons why you should avoid fast fashion when possible. The fast fashion industry is relatively new and causes a lot of damage to the environment, exploits workers and harms animals. Fashion is a Tragic Reality Clothes shopping was once an occasional event. It happened only a few times per year as the seasons changed and when our clothes outgrew ours. Something changed 20 years ago. Clothes became more affordable, trends accelerated, and shopping became a pastime. Fast fashion and global chains now dominate high street shopping and online shopping. What is fast fashion? What is the problem with fast fashion? How does fast fashion impact the environment, people, and animals? In the shouldies, it was too good to be true. You could shop in these trendy stores with loose change and wear it a few times before throwing it away. Everyone could now afford to look like their favorite celebrity or follow the latest trends straight from the runway. In 2013, Rana Plaza, a Bangladeshi clothing manufacturing plant, collapsed and killed over 1,000 workers. This was when people began to question fast fashion and wondered about the true price of $5 t-shirts. You might be well aware of the dark side of fast fashion. However, it is worth looking at how it got there and how we can change it. What is Fast Fashion? Fast fashion is defined as clothing that is cheap and trendy. It takes ideas from celebrity culture or the catwalks and transforms them into clothes in high-street stores at lightning speed to satisfy consumer demand. It is important to have the latest styles available as quickly as possible so that shoppers can grab them while they are still popular and then discard them after only a few uses. This is in keeping with the notion that wearing the same outfit over and over again is a fashion faux pas. If you want to be relevant, then you need to wear the most recent styles as they become available. Fashion is one of the most polluting industries in the world because of its toxic system of overproduction. Let's look back at its history before we start to change it. What is The Secret to Fast Fashion? We need to go back in time to understand how fashion evolved so quickly. Fashion was slower before the 1800s. It was difficult to find the right materials, such as wool and leather, prepare them, weave them, then make clothes. New technology was introduced by the Industrial Revolution, such as the sewing machine. Clothes were easier to make, faster and more affordable. To cater to middle class women, dressmaking shops were established. Many of these dressmaking shops employed teams of homeworkers or garment workers. During this period, sweatshops were created, with the same safety concerns. In 1911, a fire erupted at New York's Triangle Shirtwaist Factory. This was the first major garment factory disaster. It claimed the lives 146 garment workers, many who were young women immigrants. In the 1960s and 1970s, fashion was a way for young people to express themselves. However, there was still a difference between high fashion and street. Low-cost fashion was at its peak in the 2000s and 1990s. Online shopping became popular and fast-fashion retailers such as Zara, H&M and Topshop took over high street fashion. These retailers took design elements and looks from top fashion houses and created them cheaply and quickly. It's easy for everyone to find trendy clothes online, which is why this phenomenon has become so popular. Understanding Fast Fashion Once, shopping for clothes was a special occasion. The ability to save money for new clothing at specific times of the year would be a benefit to consumers. Fashion shows would give the style-conscious a glimpse of what's to come by showing new lines and collections several months before they are available in stores. This all changed in the 1990s when shopping became an entertainment form and consumers began to spend more on clothes. Fast fashion, low-cost, trendy knockoffs that allow consumers to feel like they are wearing the same style that was worn by celebrities or walked the runway, is now possible. Innovations in supply chain management (SCM), among fashion retailers, make fast fashion possible. It's designed to produce clothing at a rapid pace in order to meet fast-changing consumer demand. It is based on the assumption that consumers desire high-fashion at a low price. Although the garments are made with care, they are not meant to be worn for many years or multiple times. Category management is a way to link the manufacturer and the consumer in a mutually advantageous relationship. This collaboration is essential because fast fashion has a rapid pace. Fast Fashion Leaders H&M Group and Zara are major players in fast fashion. Although many companies can be both manufacturers and retailers, they may outsource the production of clothing. Traditional mass-market department stores like Macy's, J. C. Penney and Kohl's have also taken inspiration from fast fashion. They have shortened the design and production time of their proprietary brands and in-house brands to be more competitive in the market. What's Wrong with Fast Fashion? This comprehensive overview of the major issues caused by fast fashion brands contains tons of statistics and additional reading to help you get educated about clothes and their environmental and social impact. This is the problem with fast fashion. What Environmental Issues Are Associated With Fast Fashion? There is a high environmental cost to the endless creation of new clothing. The sector consumes 93 billion cubic metres of water each year, enough to supply five million people with their daily needs. It is also responsible for 20% of industrial water pollution due to textile treatment and dyeing. Many problems are also associated with the materials and manufacturing processes. Cotton production is responsible for 6% of all pesticides in the world and 16%. This industry is also responsible for as much as 10% of global carbon emissions and will continue to grow by 50% by 2030. These problems are more widespread in the clothing industry, but plastic is a particular problem for fast fashion. When Did Fast Fashion Begin? Since the invention of the sewing machine, fashion has been growing rapidly. Ready-made clothing was popularized. You can choose from a variety of clothing options in ready-made clothing. This enabled the middle class to have more affordable access to fashion. However, custom and handmade tailoring and dressmaking remained popular until around a century later. Fabric was rationed during World War II and the styles were simplified. Mass-produced clothing became more popular. Lower working standards were a result of mass-production. In 1911, 146 garment workers were killed in an accident at New York's Triangle Shirtwaist factory. From the 1960s through the 1990s, mass clothing production exploded. Labor and textile production were outsourced in the developing world. While the demand for affordable clothing was high, manufacturers sought out the lowest labor and materials. The pace at which clothing manufacturers began to produce was slowed down and trends were updated faster than four times per year. Fashion supply chains created new production models in the 1990s to make them as efficient and fast as possible. Fashion retailers continued to reduce costs and increase production speed. It's not unusual for stores to create weekly "microseasons" that bring in 52 collections each year. There will be consequences for such high production rates. Tips for Organizing Closet Clutter
Tips for organizing closet clutter, the real skeletons that lurk within our closets are the shape of clutter and clothes rather than lies and betrayal. To clear your mind and your closet the experts in design at Laurel & Wolf have done the hard work by compiling a list with strategies to eliminate that clutter once at last. 1. Before you dive in at the stacks of muddled socks or boxes of letters from your camp buddies You must first make a large chunk of time dedicated to your closet cleaning project. When you've decided to commit to the time frame, adhere to the schedule. 2. There's something truly magical happening when you listen to the right songs while you clean. A playlist that is belt-friendly tunes can make time pass by in a flash and take your mind away from the tedious job that is at hand. 3. Remove everything that you own, and we mean everything out of your closet. Make sure you have bins, boxes, or bags that are labeled "keep," "donate," and "trash" to sort all of the junk into. 4. It's likely that you'll have to make many difficult decisions throughout this process, as you confront the hoodies of old which bring back a feeling of nostalgia. But don't lose sight of the purpose of decluttering. When you are shopping, consider: "Do I wear this?" "Would I buy this now?" "Does this accurately represent my current style?" When you purge, be aware of items you have excessive amounts of. For instance, why do you have three different crop tops in orange? take note of what you really require. How do you manage to not own one of those black dresses? 5. Get your Cinderella on the move (pre-Ball Sorry) by gathering all your cleaning materials and taking to your knees and hands to scrub. Clean any shelves or shelves in your closet, as well as wipe down the hangers and racks as well. 6. At this point in the game, be sure that you have the appropriate organization tools for your items that you've decided to put back in your new-to-you closet. Purchase non-slip hangers to ensure that your sundresses and rompers don't end in the dirt every time. You'll be amazed at how useful hooks that are nice for your bags and belts will prove to be and also storage compartments for shoes and to store other items. 7. Finding a fashionable outfit in the morning can be difficult enough making it so, make it easier for yourself by setting out your clothes based on manner in which you dress. For instance those who construct their outfits starting from the top and place their blouses on the front.  Put different styles of clothing together and color coordinate them to create a visual appearance, as in the closet of Laurel and Wolf's revamp. 8. Clean your closet as this an integral part of your daily routine. Plan an uncluttered period every six months, or so, to keep from the overwhelming task of cleaning up a year's worth (or more) ...) of clutter) in one go. Do you know these foods are great enemies for thyroid problems?
Nowadays, many people take thyroid pills. They need to take it forever, much like diabetic medications. Many of us are talking about foods that lower diabetes risk and related dos and don’t. Similarly, we should be aware of the foods to eat and foods to avoid for thyroid problems. Let us discuss it in this article. What is the role of the thyroid gland in our body? The thyroid gland creates hormones that control the body’s metabolic rate, which affects bone growth and maintenance, heart, muscle, and digestive function. It balances our energy and regulates our mood and body heat. A sufficient intake of iodine from the diet is necessary for its proper operation. Two common types of thyroids – Hyperthyroidism & Hypothyroidism When the thyroid produces too much hormone or too little hormone, it is called thyroid disease. The disease known as hyperthyroidism causes the body to burn energy more quickly than it should. Hypothyroidism is just the opposite to it. The body is consuming energy more slowly than it should because the thyroid is not making enough hormones. With many health conditions, some factors are out of our control, including our family history and the environment around us. But diet also plays a big role — and since you’re the one in command of your plate, you can determine which foods to choose and which thyroid foods to avoid. Some of the foods to avoid for thyroid problems  1. Cruciferous Vegetables These vegetables belong to the Brassic plant group. This vegetable has distinctive petals like cabbage. It is one of the important foods to avoid for thyroid issues. Some cruciferous vegetables are: 1. Cabbage. 2. Broccoli. 3. Cauliflower. 4. Bok choy. 5. Brussels sprouts. 6. Kale. 7. Mustard plant. 8. Turnips. 9. Garden cress etc. You might wonder why cruciferous veggies should be avoided for thyroid health. More fiber and other nutrients are present in these plants. However, they might block the generation of thyroid hormones. If you are iodine deficient, you will experience additional effects. Iodine is necessary for a healthy thyroid operation. Therefore, it is best to consume fewer cruciferous vegetables. According to studies, eating these vegetables may prevent the thyroid from using iodine. Cruciferous vegetables that have been cooked can lessen the effect. So you can consume cruciferous veggies in moderation while avoiding salads made of them. 2. Fatty foods Butter, meat, and all things fried are fatty foods. According to Stephanie Lee, MD, Ph.D., associate chief of endocrinology, nutrition, and diabetes at Boston Medical Center and associate professor at Boston University School of Medicine in Massachusetts, fats have been found to interfere with the body’s ability to absorb thyroid hormone replacement therapy. Additionally, fats may prevent the thyroid from producing hormones. Some medical professionals advise avoiding any fried foods and limiting your consumption of fats from sources like butter, mayonnaise, margarine, and fatty meat cuts. 3. Soy Foods Even soy and meals containing soy are very good in protein and can prevent cancer and heart disease, but they also have some effects on thyroid issues. But according to current research, soy has no impact on thyroid hormones.  It is generally advised to take thyroid medicine on an empty stomach to prevent inconsistent absorption. Soy is the greatest food source of isoflavones which are linked with thyroid disorders. If you consume soy-containing meals, make sure to wait four hours between eating them and taking your dose. This is true because soy can interfere with proper thyroid medication absorption and cause uneven medication effects. How can shoe brands grow using influencer marketing?
As per research conducted by Allied Market Research in 2020, the market for shoe brands reached a ginormous $371.8 billion. The number has only increased year after year. With such a big pool and continued demand for shoes, some exceptional brands are still not getting the profits they truly deserve. The piece of the puzzle that is missing is collaborating with influencers. This is the age of the internet and influencers. They hold on to the latest trends and a vast trail of followers. Technology might have evolved since the early days, but the simple truth that people trust people remains relevant. We live in a significant era where access to everything is just a click away. But whether we are thinking of buying a snack from a new brand or investing in a property, we still look around and seek people's advice. This is the foundation of influencer marketing. It is a gospel truth that idea and marketing are the two-column of a successful venture. While many brands have great products and innovative ideas, their future is likely not that bright if they are shying away from marketing their product. Partnering with influencers in sync with your product can do wonders for your brand image. Debunking myths about influencer marketing Influencer marketing starts and ends on social media One of the most popular myths about influencer marketing is that there is nothing beyond social media such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and Tik Tok. This cannot be any farther than the truth. When businesses, including shoe brands, collaborate with influencers, they primarily target their potential customers. Influencers also participate in forums, brand websites, and e-commerce platforms by rating items and writing reviews as a form of brand promotion. It is just about online presence Influencers gathering their audience online does not mean they cannot promote the brand offline. Influencers can also discuss their actual-life interactions with products with respective friends and family. In many cases, offline campaigns relying on word-of-mouth strategies with hundreds of offline nano-influencers engaged in organizing product trials, distributing coupons, and spreading the word may have an even greater impact on retail sales. More followers mean better promotion Many shoe brands still run from the school of thought that the more followers a particular influencer has, the better they will be able to promote the brand. Specific product categories demand expertise in a particular industry and specialized communities (e.g., Boxing Shoes). Even for mass-market businesses, the goal of legitimacy and engagement must be weighed against the drive of reach. Brands have to concentrate on suitable matches that provide original and dependable material. Instead of choosing the influencer with the most followers out of sheer blindness, they will be better equipped to impact their audiences. It's a Gen Z and Millennial thing Many brands with great products with age demographics beyond 35+ do not need to opt for influencer marketing since they believe it is to attract Gen Z and the Millennial gentry. This is false. Depending on the social network, audience demographics might differ significantly. For instance, Twitter users are 40 on average, while approximately 35 percent of users of Pinterest are between the ages of 30 and 49. Almost half of the population of seniors who are 65 years of age and older use Facebook. Offline, anybody may give a service or product a recommendation to their friends, regardless of age. It is not cost-effective Top influencers in any field charge hefty fees for brand promotions, and while they interact with a larger audience, they are not the only people who can do brand promotion. The brands should do their homework for the kind of audience they wish to interact with. Once they have figured it out, they can start looking for influencers catering to that particular audience. Many budding influencers with comparatively fewer followers happily partner up with brands for a fraction of the price of their more famous contemporaries. Most micro- and nano-influencers are open to working with businesses for free or in exchange for gifts. These influencers have an innate desire to promote the companies they adore. Influencer marketing and its power to take Shoe Brands to new heights After extensive market research, prepare a strategy to promote your brand and bring in the influencers. By engaging influencers, brands can hold a conversation on proper channels with the right people. Seek influencers who share the same frequency that your brand is on. Do not imitate other or try to fit into the same cookie-cutter policies. Be honest for a better working relationship and prevent the influencer from wasting your time and money. This goes both ways. Understanding the target market's demographics and location is the first step in creating brand recognition. Research the KPIs or key performance indicators of an influencer and then utilize them to create a marketing campaign. Summing it up Even though influencers have recently been a hot topic, there are still far too many misunderstandings around the basics of influence marketing. We must put more effort into teaching the fundamentals to all players. Influencers nowadays have access to a loyal following they have built up through time. Using influencers in campaigns is a beautiful technique to promote your business to potential buyers. From video postings to blogs, various ways influence marketing can help shoe brands make a name for themselves. This advertising method is excellent for reaching new audiences, increasing brand recognition, and maintaining your business's social media activity.
