Eating Healthy Now Gives You A Break On Your Insurance
Over the past couple of years I have wondered: if eating healthy was truly an issue of importance, why wouldn't the government help make the cost of healthier options cheaper than the unhealthy ones?
No matter the cost, I coast through the Whole Food aisle and pay top dollar for healthy alternatives. You only get one body right?
Finally, a company has decided to acknowledge the sacrifices many have made in an effort to live a healthier lifestyle with cheaper insurance.
Michael Doughtry, president of John Hancock, spoke with USA Today on Wednesday about the new program.
“It’s really three things that cause more than half the deaths in the U.S.,” he says. “People smoking, people not eating nutritious diets, and people not engaging in enough physical activity. If our customer base can get better in those three areas, they’ll live longer, which means we’re not going to have to pay out claims as quickly.”
The new policy service could save you up to 50 dollars a month.

While that isn't a life changing amount of money, the extra bucks in your pocket doesn't hurt, right?

How do they monitor it all?

@CPTdonut I have the same question. I guess we'll have to wait and see!

it sucks for people who can't access healthy food (like you said it's really short sighted that we haven't worked more on that issue) but this definitely makes sense.
