5 Ways to Have A Work-Life Balance
Having a work-life balance is very important to your overall health. I think it's very important to remember that life encompasses many things, and that includes friendships, family, dating, hobbies, and personal time.
Life shouldn't just be about your job, it should be about creating a healthy balance between the things you need to do and the things you want to do.

Aly's Wisdom:

If your life ends today, will you be proud of all the things you have accomplished and all the great experiences you've had? Or will you feel regret because you didn't really live life to its full capacity?

1) Time Management

In order to successfully achieve a work-live balance, you need to learn how to manage your time. For myself, I write down the tasks and projects that needs to be completed, and set a reasonable timeline for them. By the end of the work-day, I should have had everything done. If you're unable to focus on one particular project, brainstorm for the next.
Unfortunately, not every person has a position that affords them the ability to time manage (work emergencies, unpredictable schedules, ect.) but if you do, try to schedule things accordingly.

2) Be Vocal About Availability

If you have set aside time outside of work, make sure that everyone knows that. If you're finally using your vacation time, USE IT. As a courtesy, you can make sure that you have work covered for the time you'll be taking off, but make sure you're firm about the fact that you're taking that well-deserved time off. For me personally, when I am on vacation, I AM ON VACATION. That means no emails, no messages, no late-night work projects. My phone is off, and the relaxing is on.

3) Don't Feel Guilty About Having A Life

If you feel pressure and shackled to your career (and you don't want to), think about what you really want from your life. I am a big believer of balance. Although I enjoy my work, I also enjoy hiking, my family, my friends, my hobbies, and the gym- and I make sure I designate time for all aspects of my life. It's about being healthy and balanced (AND SANE)!

4) Leave Work At Work

If you have a work email pending a response, but you're with your family for dinner, leave the email alone. If it's not life-threatening, and it can wait, let it wait. Sometimes the issue with being connected virtually, is that we're expected to be available at a snap of a finger, but it doesn't have to be that way. Set the standard, and make sure you let people understand that things might not get addressed right-away outside of work hours. If you have the spare time outside of work hours, address it at your own accord, if you don't, wait when the work day has began.

5) Make Time For Yourself

It's important to just set time for yourself. Remove yourself from everything, and do the things you enjoy. It's easy to feel overwhelmed and stressed, and it's our job to make sure we do things that alleviates that. For me, it's watching ridiculous YouTube videos, while cradling a glass of wine. I am an introvert, so I feel most relaxed when I am completely alone.

In conclusion, you can most definitely be a hard working, dedicated person, while having a balance, health, happy life.

Remember, this is YOUR life.
