Stan Van Gundy on refs: LeBron James can 'do whatever he wants'
If there's one thing the NBA doesn't tolerate, its Lebron James slander.
Detroit Pistons head coach Stan Van Gundy could be looking at a heavy fine after his statement on how the refs called game one against Lebron James.
"A couple calls have upset our guys," Van Gundy told Salters. "They've got to understand, LeBron's LeBron. They're not going to call offensive fouls on him. He gets to do whatever he wants. They've got to understand that."
Officiating a game with Lebron James has to be one of the toughest tasks a ref has ever experienced.
The NBA has never seen a player with his size and strength that moves as fast as he does. He is extremely powerful and hard to stop when he squares his shoulders. It's hard for refs to determine what is truly a foul by him or against him.
With that being said, LBJ get a lot of leeway on defense with physical play. He rarely gets in foul trouble. Refs often look the other way when he throws his body around.

Was coach Van Gundy right? Does Lebron get away with too much on the basketball court?

I think sometimes he gets away with a little more than he should, but then again everybody is focused on him when he's on the court. I'm sure other guys get away with stuff just as much but those guys are held to the same standard or scrutinized to the same extent.

I just think everyone is way too focused on him way too much...I bet there are more players who get away with more stuff.

I think it's a bold statement for you to say that the refs look the other way when he throws his body around haha
