I spent my first summer in the city last year.

It was definitely one to remember for both the good and the bad. The great thing about living in New York during the summertime is that there is always something to do. You can never say you're bored between the months of May through August, and if you do -- you're simply not trying hard enough. You can expect day parties, festivals, picnics, sample sales, walks for a cure and so much more to take place in the city -- oh, and let's not forget the large amount of free events. I mean seriously, who doesn't love free?
While there are several pros, there also happen to be a handful of cons because you can't have one without the other. If you've ever lived or visited the city during the summer then you know exactly what I'm talking about. A few cons could never spoil all the amazing things the city has to offer. You can expect it to be extremely humid

The New York City humidity is no joke during the summertime, but if you can deal with the humidity -- you can deal with anything. Plus, a little humidity never hurt anyone anyway, or did it.

Day parties are the new night parties.

What's a night party anyway? If you want to mix, mingle, network and sip a drink or two [if that's your thing] -- there is literally a day party taking place in a borough near you every weekend. Trust me, you don't want to miss out. The FOMO is too real.

The subway stations reek of nastiness.

If you thought the subway stations smelled of urine and musk on a daily basis, just wait until the summertime. It's literally 20 times worse. Be prepared to hold your nose and try your best not to vomit.

There's always a free event taking place somewhere.

Literally. Step outside and there will be some type of free event you can attend and enjoy yourself.

If you're single, get ready to mingle.

You might not find love, but if you're looking for a friend you can kick it with and grab a bite to eat every now and then -- New York in the summertime is exactly where you need to be.

I mean, c'mon the pros outweigh the cons.

Let's make the summer in the city worthwhile.
What's the best thing that happens in your city during the summertime?
@jordanhamilton that's true humidity and summer go hand in hand sadly. This year I'm also determined to find something to combat the humidity.
