- Hoseok's point of view - She looks so adorable. She's got cute little shorts and a light hoodie on. This is a time where she wanted to look cute, she looks comfortable. "You're checking me out." "I sure am." "No shame. You're not even going to deny it." "For one, you obviously know I'm doing it; and two, you like it. Don't pretend you don't enjoy the attention." She shoves me as we're walking. She wasn't even trying and I still almost tripped. "Watch it. You know you're strong, so don't push so hard." "I'm not that strong, apparently you're just that weak." "I'm off balance on the sand." She scoffs. "Sure." I gently shove her sideways and then grab her arm as she almost falls. "See, I told you." "Like you push your girlfriend!" "I caught you didn't I?" "You're dumb." "I am." We walk for about fifteen minutes. "Are we ever going to stop walking? We've passed like twenty empty spots where we could've set our stuff." I pat her on the head. "Soon enough." "Don't be condescending." "I wasn-" I point and grab her hand, pulling her along. "There!" "Slow down or let go! I'm going to fall!" "Just be faster!" I keep pulling her along until we get to the empty spot. "See, it's perfect." "Not to ruin your good mood over your seemingly amazing find, but it looks exactly the same as every other spot we passed." "You're wrong. It's a bit farther away from everyone else." "Oh, good idea." She sets her backpack down and opens it. Pulling out a sheet. "Is that a bed sheet from the hotel!" "Sure is. It folded small enough that I could fit it in with my other stuff." "I don't think you're supposed to do that." She looks at me like I'm crazy. "I'm bringing it back? I'll shake out the sand as best I can and I'll just leave it on the floor in the room. I don't use top sheets anyways." "You're sneaky." "I'm smart. And I don't like sand getting stuck to me. It's easy to be creative when you're trying to avoid something." "You have such a strange way of thinking." She laughs as she spreads it out. "I don't think I ever want to hear that from you again. You are not one to talk about strange thinking." She snaps her fingers and points. "Set your backpack on the blanket so it stays in place on that side." "Yes, ma'am." I set the bag down and sit on the sheet. Before my feet even touch it she pushes them away. "What was that for?" "Are you crazy! Don't put shoes on the sheet!" I start taking them off. "Oh. You're right, it'll leave marks." "That's not what I'm worried about. It's the sand." "What is up with you and sand?" "I don't mind sand on the ground, but I don't like sand on things it shouldn't be on. I don't like sand on blankets, on chairs, in cars, on the floor, it gets everywhere and never leaves." "You have some really random pet peeves." "No, no. This isn't a pet peeve; this is a full on hatred of sand that doesn't stay at the damn beach where it belongs." Those last few words had some actual animosity behind them. I pat her back a little. "It'll be okay. The sand will stay here." "Don't patronize me, and it won't because it never does." She takes a deep breath and sighs. "I'm fine, I'm not crazy or something. There's just certain things I don't like." "You said hate." She shushes me. "Anyway, I'm hot. Can we go in the water now?" I lay back on the blanket. "I thought you wanted to sit down?" "No, I wanted to to set our things down so we could go in the water." "Just a few minutes." "Sure. One, two, three, four, five, si-" She keeps counting while I talk. "What are you doing?" "Ten, eleven, counting until it's been a few minutes, seventeen, eighteen, ni-" "You're doing that so I get up aren't you?" "Twenty-four, twenty-five, twenty-six, yes, twenty-seven, twenty-eight, tw-" "Not gonna work." "Thirty-one, thirty-two, thirty-three, we'll see, thirty-five, thirty-six, th-" "Fine! You're like a five year old!" She grins. "But it worked." She's lucky she's got such a cute smile, otherwise she wouldn't get out of things so quickly. I stand up and wait. She looks up at me. "Aren't you going to take your shirt off?" Not with the shape I'm in right now. "I don't want to get sunburned." She shrugs and stands up. She starts unzipping her sweatshirt and is about to take it off. I grab it and pull it closed. "Where's the rest of that!" "It's a bikini, and it covers more than all the others I've ever seen." "Not enough!" "I'm not going in the water with this sweatshirt on." Damn it. I let go and start taking off my shirt. "I thought you didn't want to take your shirt off." "Well I'm going to have to, aren't I? Here." I hold the shirt out and she takes it. "What?" "Put it on. I'm not letting you walk around like that. I don't need other guys looking at you." She laughs as she shakes her head a little. "Kay, babe." I'm glad she's calling me that once in awhile now. She takes off her sweatshirt and for about ten seconds I get to look at her in a bikini. Yeah, other guys don't need to see that. That body is mine and mine alone to look at and admire. She's got it on and I remember how nice it is to see her in my shirt, this time she doesn't just look like mine though. She is mine. She starts taking off her shorts. "Hey!" "Relax "dad", I have boy short style bottoms on. So chill." "I don't appreciate the dad remark, but I'll let it slide." She mumbles in English, "As if I'd be able to pull off tiny bikini bottoms, not with my ass." I speak English. "Your ass is fine." She blushes and goes back to Korean. "Shut up." I laugh. "Just letting you know so you don't worry about how you look. It's as gorgeous as the rest of you." She blushes again. "Just shut up and start walking." We start walking toward the water. She grabs my hand. "By the way I think you look good without a shirt." "I said I just didn't want to get burnt." "I'm not dumb. Don't be insecure. You always look very sexy, with or without a little tummy." She gets closer and puts her hand on my stomach. "If anything I might like it more, it feels nice." I move her hand. Like she says she likes it more. What girl likes this more? Girls like abs not tummy. "Don't make that face. If you think I'm lying, I'm not. It's barely a tummy so don't worry so much. It's as gorgeous as the rest of you." "Shut up." She giggles. "You're blushing." "I said shut up. I'm not blushing, it's sunburn. See that's why I wanted the shirt. I have skin that burns easy. I wasn't trying to hide anything." She stops. "Okay. I'd hate for you to burn that lovely skin of yours." She starts taking the shirt off and I pull it back down. "What are you doing?" "Well, if you're such a sensitive little snowflake who's never heard of sunblock, then you should wear the shirt so you don't burn." I start walking again. "Knock it off or I'm going to pick you up and throw you in the water." She follows. "I'll stop. Just don't be insecure okay? Otherwise you'll be too self conscious to have fun. I can tell you're very distracted by it. I'm done talking about it though. Those are my last parting words on the subject." "Good." We get up to the water and she take a little jump forward so both her feet land in the little bit of water at the same time. "It's perfect." I walk into the water. "Can't you just walk in like normal people?" She pouts a little. "Let me be immature sometimes." I laugh, that's so cute when she does it. "Okay, but only if you let me be immature, too." "That's fine. I'll allow it." "Alright, good." I walk behind her and pick her up bridal style, she's light enough that I can keep my balance. "What are you doing!" "You said I could be immature." "What does this have to do with being immature!" "Just wait and see." The water gets deep pretty quick so it's not long before it's up to my hips. "This should be good." "For wh-" I drop her into the water. Maybe it was more of a small toss. She stands up and gets her balance. I smile. "You said I could be immature." She doesn't even respond before she shoves me hard enough to make me fall backwards into the water. I stand up and she pokes me in the chest. "You want to play this game?" "What ga-" She shoves me and I fall backwards again. I stand up once more and she steps up to me. I grab her wrists. "Hey, stop." "I wasn't going to push you again. I just thought you deserved two for actually tossing me into the water. So let my wrists go." "Okay. You better not." "I'm not." She reaches up and I flinch. I just flinched because of my girlfriend; sad. She puts her hand on the back of my neck and pulls me toward her. Is she trying to kiss me? Out here? Well, one's okay. I put my on her lower back and lean into a kiss. It's not a long one, but it's more than just a peck. I pull away a little and see that she looks confused. "What?" "You kissed me." "Didn't you want me to?" She slowly shakes her head. "No." "Then what were you doing?" She reaches up with her other hand and rakes her fingers through my hair, shaking it out a little. "Genius, you had sand in your hair." She pushes it out of my face. Then cradles my face with her hands. "Don't you know by now that I like your hair out of your face?" She lightly slaps my cheeks before lowering her hands. She turns around. "Now come on before you make yourself look even more foolish." "Brat!" I wrap my arms around her waist from behind. I turn us around and fall backwards. I let go, but before I can get up, she pushes me back down for more than a few seconds, then grabs my arm and helps me up. "You okay?" I cough a few times. "Yeah." I cough a couple more times. "Why'd you-" "Because that hurt. You hurt my stomach and back. That wasn't nice." I hug her. "I'm sorry! I didn't mean to! Are you okay?" She pats my back and laughs a little. "It's okay killer, I'm not exactly a delicate flower. Just wanted to get back at you that's all." "You're sure?" "Yes. Now stop hugging me. It's like I'm the only one who's worried about you doing things like this and kissing in public." She laughs. "I thought you said you'd never kiss in public." I let go. "Oh! I forgot. I hate not being able to do that. Can't even hug my own girlfriend." She grabs my hand and starts walking out more. "That's the price of fame. No privacy." I follow her. "Yeah. It still really sucks though." "Think about how I feel. Where I'm from no one cares if two random people are actually making out in public. If celebrities do that, they still don't get a ton of hate for it, unless they're cheating or something. Here, you see a couple kiss and it's crazy. I can't imagine what happens to idols when they get caught innocently giving a kiss to their significant other. So this is really hard for me to figure out what's appropriate and what's not." She stops and holds up our hands for a moment. "And this is as far as it gets, and I'm sure that's still pushing it. Arm around her? You're too close. A hug? No, that's way too much. A kiss? Oh, hell no! You need some Jesus!" She sighs and shakes her head. "Fucking ridiculous." "This really bothers you that much?" "It's not like I want to make out with you in public. But for the love of all that is holy, I should not have to feel guilty about letting my boyfriend hug and kiss me. Or feel guilty for wanting to." "I'm sorry." "It's not your fault, okay? It's honestly not that big of a deal. It's just hard for me to figure out what is too much. Was it too much when you carried me? Was it too much when you grabbed my waist from behind? Was it too much when I touched your stomach? Was it too much when I touched your hair? This is a lot of guesswork fo-" I put my hand on the back of her neck and pull her into a kiss. I don't care anymore. She's right, we should be able to kiss. That's normal, it's not dirty. The idea that it is, really is fucking ridiculous. Damn. I'm not stopping, I know I should, but I can't. It's almost freeing. She puts her arms around my neck and gets closer. I wrap my arms around her waist. This is human. It's only kissing. People can look away if they don't like it. It's not going to hurt or corrupt anyone. I'm a celebrity, but I'm a person first. I love her, she's not just some girl. She's special to me and I don't care if people see me showing that love for her. I want to be able to show affection. There's nothing wrong with that. We exchange these meaningful kisses for probably almost a minute. I pull away and rest my forehead against hers. I'm smiling like an idiot and I know it. She's got such a big smile. She's incredibly happy. "You're brave, but I think you're going to get in trouble for pulling a stunt like that. I wouldn't be surprised if someone got a picture of it." "Does it look like I honestly care?" She giggles. "Not really." "I love you, and that makes it okay. If anyone disagrees, they can go fuck themselves. Period." She laughs. "I'm starting to think I'm a bad influence. Maybe Korea isn't ready for me yet." I stand up straight, still holding her close to me. "You're not a bad influence. Just open minded. I really love that you won't let people stop you from having different opinions. That you stand up for things. I love your "I don't give a fuck" attitude. If that all rubs off on me, then oh well. I wouldn't mind, I may even prefer that. And if people don't like it, well that's too damn bad; because I'd rather be a little rebellious than make you change yourself. I love you as you are, I don't want you to change." "I'm glad you like me. It might even be a little fun to have a rebellious Hoseok. I mean, you're an idol, but you're a rapper too. I thought rappers were supposed to cause trouble." "I think you're right. Maybe you'll help my career. You've given me so many ideas for songs." "Have you written any songs with all these ideas." "I wrote down the ideas." "Well, ideas don't mean anything until you write a song." "I know that. Anyway, enough of all this heavy talk. Let's go out a little further." "Okay." We walk a little more and she stops. "I'm good." "It's barely up to your chest. Just a little further." "...okay." She takes about three steps and stops again. "Now I'm good." I grab her hands and walk backward pulling her further. "You're fine, you can go deeper than that." "I can't touch." I keep walking. "That's the fun part." "I can't touch." I'm still pulling her. "It's only a couple inches." She let's go of my hands and tightly wraps her arms around my neck. "I can't touch! I want to go back where I can!" "Then swim there." "I can't!" "Okay, okay. Just take my hands and I'll pull you back again." She let's go and grabs my hands but in half a second she's sinking like a stone. I pull her up and put her arms back around me. "Okay! So I'll just walk you back like this." I walk her back to where she can touch. "You can stand now." She feels around with her foot, hesitantly lets go of me, and then stands up. "Are you okay?" She looks down. "Yeah." "You can't swim, can you?" She shakes her head. "Why didn't you tell me before I kept pulling you out?" She shrugs. "You're not in trouble. I'm not scolding you. I'm just asking why you wouldn't tell me." "I told you twice that I wanted to stop." "Then you should have said you couldn't go any further because you can't swim." "It's embarrassing." "Is drowning less embarrassing? You're lucky I'm strong enough to hold you like that. You can't even manage to stay afloat enough to be pulled." "I know. Thank you." "You're welcome, but don't do things like that. I might not always be able to help you." "Okay." "Do you want to go back to the beach?" She nods. "For a little while." We walk back and sit on the blanket. She's being quiet and hasn't said anything. I sit closer and put my arm around her. "Can I ask why you can't swim?" "Because I sink." "I saw that. I'm asking why." "Because I can't breathe correctly anymore and can't float like I used to." "What do you mean? You used to swim?" "Yep. I loved swimming." "Did something happen?" "It's not like I got attacked or had some life threatening experience. When I was little I'd have ear and sinus infections all the time during the summer or if I went to a pool in the winter. Figured out when I was about nine that it was from going underwater too often or too long. No physical issues, just happens. So I wasn't allowed to swim anymore and now I can't swim or even float. I can't tread water and that's why I sink." "Huh. I've never heard of that happening. Especially if there's not something physically wrong." "Me neither. But hey, it got me out of swimming in gym class in middle and high school." I chuckle. "That's something I guess. Is that why you didn't sound very happy when I asked about the beach yesterday?" "Yeah." "We can have fun without swimming." "I like the water. That's why I was okay when you tossed me into it. It wasn't for long and I was able to stand up. I can mess around in the water, just no swimming." She's got her feet on the ground and she's using her hands to push sand over them. "I thought you didn't like sand." "You don't listen very well. I said I don't like it when it's in places it shouldn't be. The ground is fine. I like sand. It's warm and just, I dunno, feels nice." "It is warm." She nods. "Do you want to build a sandcastle?" She perks up. "Really? You wouldn't be embarrassed? It's kind of childish." "No. If you'll have fun I won't be embarrassed." She slouches a little bit. "You need a bucket to make them." "You're right. Oh, why don't you go ask that little girl over there if we can borrow one of hers? She's got like four of them." "You want me to go ask a kid to borrow a bucket?" "It'd be weird if I did it. At least if a pretty girl does it, it won't be weird. Kids like you apparently." "Yes, yes they do. Okay. I'll be right back." I watch her as she walks over and kneels down in the sand to talk to the girl. She must be five or so. Boram is so cute when she talks to kids, she looks so caring. I bet she'd be a great mom. Whoa! Do not start thinking that! That's way too much to be thinking of right now. You should start thinking of her being a good wife before a good mother. It's too early to even think about her being a good wife! "Hello?" I look up and she's standing there with a bucket. "Cool. She let you borrow one?" "She said I could keep it. I'll just give it back to her when we're done, but if she's gone I'll just leave it for some other kid to find and play with." "She gave you a bucket?" "She basically insisted. Her mom said it was okay because she had so many and that if her daughter liked me enough to give me one, then she wasn't going to stop her. Apparently she's bad at sharing so her mom was pretty happy to see her be so willing to not only share, but to actually give her toy away." She really will be a great mother. She has such a way with children. "Quit staring at me like that." "Like what?" "I know what you're thinking. I can read people and I'm a woman, so I know that look." "What am I thinking?" She shakes her head. "I'm not getting married anytime soon." "I wasn't thinking that!" "Yes, you were." "I wasn't!" "You're blushing. So if it wasn't that, what was it?" "I was thinking about having kids." Shit! Why would I just blurt that out! I didn't think! I should have just agreed with the wife thing! Oh no! She looks so freaked out! "No! I mean-" "You sure do move quick don't you? You want kids?" "Well I-" "Let's do it." "What?" "Let's have a baby." "Are you serious?" She starts laughing. "Fuck no! Oh my god! I'm sorry, but you looked like you were seriously considering it when I asked. I'm sorry that was really mean. I couldn't resist though. You just really surprised me with that and I tried to make light of it by joking I guess." "It's fine! It's fine! I don't want any right now! Of course not." "Good. So don't be thinking those things anymore." "Well, you will be a good mom." She holds out the bucket and looks away. "Go get water." I take it. That's cute she's embarrassed over that. "Okay." I get up and as I'm walking away I hear her speaking English to herself. "And you'll make a great dad someday." Continued in next part.
