Today we've lost a legend.

At age 57, iconic pop star Prince has died. He was the voice behind "Purple Rain" and "Let's Go Crazy" singing pop hits to define the generation. Prince was a man of secrecy, pure exclusivity, and always stayed at a firm distance from his fans letting the music only speak for itself. Like the passings of Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston, Prince will go down in history as another pop legend who died too young.
Prince passed away at 10:07 a.m. CT in his Paisley Park residence this morning. He was found unconscious in an elevator by a man whose name has yet to be released. The man called 911 at 9:43 a.m. and when paramedics arrived, they were unable to revive the legend after attempting CPR. Though cause of death originally claimed to be from a severe flu, new information is slowly pointing to a drug overdose. There are no signs of fowl play.
"The person is dead here. ... And the people are just distraught," the man told the police dispatcher.
Prince's autopsy is set for Friday.
Below I have provided a list of 7 of Prince's greatest hits and the iconic lyrics from each:

1. Purple Rain

I never meant to cause you any sorrow
I never meant to cause you any pain
I only wanted one time to see you laughing
I only want to see you laughing in the purple rain.

2. Let's Go Crazy

Instead of asking him how much of your time is left
Ask him how much of your mind, baby
'Cause in this life
Things are much harder than in the after world
In this life
You're on your own.

3. When Doves Cry

This is what it sounds like
When doves cry.

4. Kiss

You don't have to be rich
To be my girl
You don't have to be cool
To rule my world
Ain't no particular sign I'm more compatible with
I just want your extra time and your

5. Raspberry Beret

She wore a
Raspberry beret
The kind you find in a second hand store
Raspberry beret
And if it was warm she wouldn't wear much more
Raspberry beret
I think I love her.

6. Little Red Corvette

Little red Corvette
Baby you're much too fast.

7. 1999

I was dreamin' when I wrote this
So sue me if I go 2 fast
But life is just a party, and parties weren't meant 2 last
War is all around us, my mind says prepare 2 fight
So if I gotta die I'm gonna listen 2 my body tonight
Yeah, they say two thousand zero zero party over,
Oops out of time
So tonight I'm gonna party like it's 1999.
some excellent alternative choices - "Mountains" "Another Lonely Christmas" "Glam Slam" <- sorry - my original spelling was all funky thanks to my phone's autocorrect "Get Off" "Vicki Waiting" "If I Was Your Girlfriend" and "Sometimes it Snows in April" are the 7 lesser known Prince tunes that I think show the depth, diversity, and undeniable genius of the "Purple One". Great card. And now his watch has ended... another like him will never be seen again.
I still don't get this who is prince? Everyone keeps talking about his death but I'm super confused. And don't kill me since I don't know who he is I'm only 10 so I get an excuse
Diamonds and Pearls
No... we had "Wham!", and Rick Astley. And I should mention Michael Bolton ... then there was Terrance Trent Darby (he was like Kanye - always talking about how amazing he was) - fortunately back then people were disgusted by unbridled arrogance and he disappeared as quickly as he came... too bad people today actually buy into these people's delusional self promotion.
@JonPatrickHyde hm that's cool. Your lucky you didn't have stupid music like Taylor swift when you were younger
