Color Formula: Dark Hair to Pink Hair
Transitioning dark hair to pink hair without bleach is one of the most difficult thing to do. The only other alternative is using a high lift dye. Dark hair does not absorb the color as nice as light hair since it's more pigmented, so you have to be extremely picky when choosing the color.
The color you see on the box model will not be your hair color! It really depends on what color of dye you choose to get the result you want.
We'll be using the same concept today to get pink hair.

The Formula:

1. Satin High Lift Dye 12hlv (the color is similar to platinum).
2. Semi Permanent Color of your choice. To get pink ombre, use Pravana Vivid Pink and Pravana Pastel Pink and blend from midshaft to the ends. The top should be a darker shade and the ends should be a lighter shade. Or You can do a sombre, and mix two color together like a dip dye. Look at the picture above as an example.
Blending tip: If you're coloring everything always section your hair. Split into four and work your way from the bottom quad to the top. To avoid creating a harsh line. Twist your hair then dye it with a brush. Once you're done blending, individually wrap it in tinfoil. For a stronger effect, leave the dye in for 45 minutes. If you want something a little more subtle, 10 to 15 minutes will do the trick.
IMPORTANT: - If you're dyeing your full hair including the roots you might want to let apply coconut oil or vaseline to protect your scalp.
- Everyone's hair condition is different so result may vary.
- Always do a patch test first!

FAQ

Will high lift color work on colored hair?
No, lifting your hair color only works on virgin hair not artificial color. If you hair is already dyed high lifting won't be effective. You can always erase your artificial color with a dye remover. Although, I do recommend going to a professional!
Can you get pastel hair after you get a high lift blonde?
No, pastel hair color really only work on platinum or nearly white blonde. What you could do is use a purple shampoo to lighten your hair over time. Leave it on for about 20 minutes once a week and it will cancel out brassiness (less yellow tone). Salon Favorite: Lush Daddy-O Purple Shampoo - $30.95, Aveda Blue Mauve Shampoo - $36.00
