Coach Greg Schiano announced his support for the 5th year quarterback yesterday and squashed any rumors that hinted towards a quarterback controversy in Tampa Bay. And why should there be? Freeman just came off a 4000 yard season with 27 TDs and 17 interceptions. Yes the ending of the season was disastrous (2 TDs and 9 INTs over the last 3 games) but now he is in a contract year, and I have high hopes for the 25 year old quarterback. He's got the weapons to make it happen with stud WR Vincent Jackson leading the way, Mike Williams grabbing 9 TDs last year, new acquisition Kevin Ogletree manning the slot, and last years rookie sensation Doug Martin manning the backfield. The only question mark is starting tight end Luke Stocker who has never had more than 16 catches in a season (although his lone TD catch last year was a great grab). Many predicted the Bucs would get a TE in the draft but head scratchingly did not pick any. They must have high hopes for Stocker or plan on using a lot of 3WR sets. So how do you guys feel about Freeman this year? Personally, for fantasy I would have no problems drafting him in the middle rounds as my QB 1 if I decide to go heavy on WRs and RBs in the beginning. This is his contract year and I think he is going to show up big to silence the haters. Click the arrow to see his 2012-2013 highlights. Image Source: Harry How/Getty Images North America
